Sure enough, as I predicted, the first thing to get broken on my brand new 2007, was the darn tail lamp. I knew from the first second i saw the fact that they stick out past the bumper, that they'd become the bumper...

Anyone know if the 06 and 07 tail lamp connectors are exactly the same? I'd like the 06 lamps, they look better to me than the garish round eyes on the 07s anyway.

I guess I haven't seen an 07 yet. The lamps stick out PAST the Bumper? What an obviously flawed design.

Spoken by one who has used the bumper a few times.

Yeah, it threw me for a loop when i nudged a phone pole while backing in the dark... i wasnt even moving under power, just creeping back from the momentum of the vehicle. . and CRUNCH. I couldnt believe that the light got crushed, but the bumper didnt even get rubbed. So, I went with a straight-edge on the non-damaged one... sure enough the 07 lights stick out about 1/2" past the corner of the bumper.

I know that the 06 lights use a different lamp setup, and this morning I checked that the pinout to the circuit board connector is the same between the 06 and 07 years. So I'm gonna get the complete lamp assemblys off an 06 with their nice flush mount. Its too bad that noone makes a nice LED tail lamp for the 06 yet. The APC one is garish and looks cheap.

Do you know if the connector is the same for an '05? I'm thinking of getting the newer tails? it's just a thought though not sure if I really like them or not.

-Ryan

Maybe you should hook a trade with someone else? I have seen the '07 lights and like them alot, maybe you should reconsider????

Wow some of you actually prefer the look of the 07 tail lights... . Not only do they look like a Dakota/Durrango but they can replace your rear bumper since they stick out further... .

Oh well everyone likes what they like. .

If I had to buy an 07 that would be my first purchace... 06 lights

Well I am an idiot. Went and got a set of lights off ebay... and sure enough, the 07 light setup is COMPLETELY different from the nice simple "plug in" harness connector of the 02-06 models.

I guess DC didnt have the money for that super expensive connector or circuit board... The 07 has a "half twist" style lamp setup where each lamp connects to its own socket coming off the harness.

BLAH. Now I've got 2 02-06 lights with nothing to do... lol. Well, I guess if one doesn't experiment, one won't learn.
