I ordered my Ram last night. After hitting a deer with my Jeep at 55mph 30 minutes prior (no damage, thanks to my Hanson Enterprises bumper. Can't say the same for the deer though), I figured I should get in the queue. #ad

I ordered a BR3500 chassis cab, 4x4, 163" wb, SLT, in Dark Garnet Red with the Agate interior. Got the ETH and six speed. Also picked 4. 10's (19. 5's in the future no doubt), posi, black vinyl floor covering, the snow plow group, the RBR stereo with CD, keyless entry, and the on/off road tires. Now the waiting begins. I can't wait to get my VIN or VON.

So, is there anything I should know that I probably haven't read here in the last 6-9 months? This is my first diesel. It's replacing a '85 D350 chassis cab with a 360 as my daily driver and tow vehicle.

First 3 mods on my list (other than boost/pyro gauges) are a Reese Titan hitch, brake controller, and new exhaust. Speaking of which, does anyone make a 4" or so exhaust for a 163" chassis cab? After that, probably a Transfer Flow aux fuel tank is next. Flatbed body after I get those things under the bed situated.

Can't wait. #ad

Welcome David, glad to see your joining the club. You will no doubt love the truck!! The ETH/DEE with 4:10's will make you happy. Same set up I have a 3500, but I did load mine up to the extreme!! Don't worry to much about the wait, they are coming off the line pretty fast now, mine was like 4 1/2 weeks start to finish and in my hands. Regards Pete

01. 5 Loooaded up!!!!!

I figured the 4. 10's were a good idea. I think I'll want the 19. 5" tires with the load I'll be carrying. I've got a bumper pull type car hauler that holds 2 Jeeps on it (holds one entirely on the deck, the second has the front wheels on the back edge on a built in turntable and the rear wheels on the ground). That weighs about 10,000. In a couple years I want to put a light slide-in (popup) on the flatbed too. I ordered the long wheelbase so I can move the slide-in forward a bit more, to help distribute the weight to the front axle better.

Welcome aboard David. I also have a dually, but not of the Cab/chassis design, you will love it and I waited 6 years for mine so your wait won't be so long.

Far enough to be too far just for an exhaust. #ad
I'm in Western NY. I'll be out that way this coming Fall for a Jeep Jamboree with the truck, but I think I'll be busy enough as it is. #ad

Congrats. .
This 2500 Quad 4X4, was my first Diesel
also. There were/are things to learn, but
I gave the owners manual a real good going over and that was a good start.

Well, the truck has been D1 since the end of december, and today is the scheduled ship date. I found out it's being built in Mexico, and I'm in western NY. Any guesses on the shipping time? I heard they have to truck it across the border to Laredo, TX, and then load it on a train, and presumably unload it somewhere like Buffalo NY onto a hauler to get it to the last leg here (Rochester doesn't have a huge train yard anymore as far as I know).

Can't wait!

Just called Dodge. The truck just went E (framing) today. Guess they won't make the 1/11 ship date, but I'll live with it. #ad

David, the build time from frame satus to completed status is normally not any longer than 2 days. The built units are then put on rail cars until the cars are filled and then shipped to Laredo, Texas where they go through custom inspections and then another rail company picks the cars up and start hauling to different area to split off the rail cars in different directions. It takes about 2-3 weeks to get a truck to St. Louis, so I would not hold my breath that it could take 4 to 6 weeks to get your truck that far. I hope I am wrong but that could be the case. My truck was built in Mexico city on Dec 11th. It did not get to the dealership until Jan 4th. There were the holidays to contend with but no weather related delays. Enjoy your new toy when it does come in!

Mine was ordered 12/11/00 and the dealer called about a week or so ago and said the ship date was expected to be on or about 2/2/01. Haven't called back as I have been on road quite a bit and when I'm home, dealer closed. Have some free time this week, may call and get some particulars. Should be intersting. I too can't wait, but really don't want the truck to show up till the expected deliverly date anyway. Been too cold lately to strip current truck of its add ons.

Good luck on your expected ride Dave
