We had to deflate the balloons and put away the candles. The transmission on my new truck got hot enough to light the trans temp indicator and lock out O/D while the transport driver was bringing my truck up from another dealership. Apparently there is a recall on all automatics for the anti-drainback valve in the cooler line. This all sounds familiar with my previous '95 automatic Dodge Cummins. I thought they might have figured out how to build a reliable check valve by now. So it's at the dealership 'til Monday or Tuesday. And... "sigh"... cruise control doesn't work. It's getting a new PCM to take care of that problem and a new mounting bracket to prevent water from getting into the plug connectors.

It sure looks purty sittin' there in the service lot. So I left it there to drive my flawless '01. 5 back home for the weekend. I'm trading a perfect (not even a door ding anywhere) nearly new truck for one that's already in the shop for repairs. Am I stupid or am I lucky that these two items where found before I took delivery?

I'll just say lift pump all weekend with an occasional VP44 for good measure until I can pick up my new quiet Cummins powered crew... . I mean perfect sized four door quad cab. :D

I just need to jump up and down and throw a tantrum or two. I just got off the phone with the dealer. They replaced the transmission cooling line check valve and took a PCM from another truck. Fine and dandy but I'll have to drive it around with the ABS light on because the VIN numbers don't match. A new PCM is on national back order with the proper VIN number installed. They also replaced the wiring harness. I told the salesman if it looks like a patch job, I won't accept it. I have this nagging gut feeling I'm about to make the most expensive mistake I've made in my 41 years of existance. When we first stopped by the dealership, I drove a 3500 SRW SLT with 5spd/4. 10. It has everything except towing mirrors. It was quiet and everything worked. I should have taken it then. The hitch bracket location was the thing that turned me away from it. Now that seems to be figured out. Am I stupid or what?:(

To add insult to injury... A nice lady just called from some number out of state to ask if I was completely satisfied with my new truck. Of course I told her I signed the papers and it went straight to the shop and has been there almost a week.

After the temper tantrums and lost sleep, I picked up my white 2500 QC as per my sig. AutoWay Dodge in Clearwater FL came through top notch. The work was done and it looks like no work was done. That's how it should be. They'll call when the new PCM comes in. For now, the borrowed PCM works great. I can't get over how quiet it is! I took the Mrs out to eat and she was also thoroughly impressed. The stereo isn't an Infinity with 7 speakers like my '01. 5 was but I don't have to turn it up to compete with the motor noise. We pulled up next to an F-350 with a Powerstroke in it. The quiet Powerstroke actually sounded loud next to our new Cummins. I'm anxious to install my hitch and hit the road! After I get some sleep... :D
