Getting ready to walk out the door. West Bounded Down to Sams house in Colorado. Making a deal on his 85 crew cab. Hopefully all goes well there and back. Wish I had more time to hang out at fellow members houses along I-70 :{ , I gotta make this trip in 3 days. Avg 650mi a day, piece of cake if I keep the wheels rolling... I'll get pics up when I get back:D.

Friendly faces!

Well, he'll get to meet at least one TDR member along the way ;) . GL - I didn't know you might have gone wuith - heck if I'd known that I'd have enticed you to come out for the drive! :D Well, Bill's coming back with a very cherry crew cab - should be a smooth trip.

Bill - Not sure if you'll be reading this before you get here but everything's set and good to go - see you tomorrow! Have a save trip amigo.

there and back again

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Bill has been here and is already on his way back to Indiana, only this time his rig has two more doors ;) Oo. . His trip out was smooth and uneventful, and all systems are go for both of us. What a neat deal. We did some lunch at a local pub, celebrated with a couple brews, swapped gear and trip essentials, and now he's 30 minutes into his East bound leg of the trip and I figure about this time tomorrow we'll be hearing from him... or maybe after he gets a bunch of ZZZzzzz's :D .

First rate guy - was good to meet you Bill. Hope we cross paths again at some TDR events. Safe trip and hammer down pardner!

Bill is a pleasent guy to hang with. I enjoyed having him over for the (New Years Day) weekend. Hope he'll swing by this way again.

Is he hauling the dually back? Or did you guys trade some rides?

I need to get out east and meet Bill too. Been joking/talking on here for a long time and all I have is the top of his head in a pic from the first gen wrench day!!

Michael

We traded rigs even - my 85 crew cab D350 for his 91 W250. He wanted the crew for a Cummins repower conversion, and I needed another 1st gen since my 93 got wrecked - worked out perfect for both of us.

Well, I'm back home in Indiana. Trip there and back was excellent, only problem was the crew enjoys the gasoline a little too much :{ . Cost about double in gas vs. the Cummins. Plus didn't have any heat for the first tank of gas on the way back~4. 5hrs. Pulled the glove box out of the way and solved the heater control problem, it was just a little to tight. Then got rid of that vacuum accuated heater valve and put a straight plastic adaptor in line. Sam was awesome, even picked up the tab at the pub :D . His place is a Mopar and Dodge Cummins paradise. I didn't want to leave. I'll definately have to get out that way again, I loved the wide open spaces, but notso much the thin air.

Michael, you'll definately have to make it to the next Cookout and Repair day at Jeremy's this fall, or have something out your way and I'll have to attend.

Scott, I will be heading your way real soon, one of the next Saturdays. I'm sure you won't let me drive my mom's Toyota with her, probly make me drive the big ole Crew, huh?:D

My list of TDR celebrities met is growing. Michael if you make it to Jeremy's this fall, you'll meet a bunch of them for sure.

Its neat having one of those western/southern cherry crew cabs here in the midwest, truely an awesome rig. I'll get pics up later.

Glad the trip was uneventful Bill - Really a great trade, thanks. I'll tell ya, that crew is a Caddilac compared to the 4x4, ya? :D I forgot how fun it is bouncing around in those great 4x4's - I'm using it this weekend to get those leaf springs, the 727 and the 205 blasted this weekend before installing them in the Ramcharger. The timing of our little 'swap' couldn't have been any better amigo. I really appreciate your taking the time to come out for the trip.

Yeah that 360 gasser may be the same cubic inches as the Cummins, but not nearly as efficiant, eh? I'm glad it ran good for ya - I bet the ride was a lot more comfortable on the way back, 'cept for the heat ;) .

Just goes to show - trips like these are not impossible of unfeasible - just requires good planning, trust in the folks involved, lots of logistics, and gas money! You get those lined up and you get a nice trip like we had here. Coll Bill - you'll have to keep me posted on the rig and the plans for it - Can't wait to see it all done up Cummins-style! Oo.

Hey Bill - I bet you wished you had the 440 outta my Demon for the trip back, ya? :-laf Prolly get a bunch better mileage too! :p .
