I just got back from a car show and was looking at the trucks pulling the car trailers  and I saw a 1985 ram with what I believe is called west coast mirrors. The mirrors attach at the top of the door and under the window. They look very simelar to the mirrors on the big rigs. :D Oo. My question is did they come on the rams in the 80's and where can I get a pair for my truck? ;) Thanks.

mirrors

My 93 work truck (manual transmission) has junior west coast mirrors that are factory. I had a set of mirrors like you mention on my 70 Ford. The ones on the 93 are not as tall as the 70 Ford but they give better visibility than the smaller electric control ones on the 93 with automatic transmission. I don't know if there is any connection to the spec as to having the manual or automatic but I have three trucks with automatic and all have the small mirrors.

The Ford mirrors were not as big as the west coast mirrors on the big rigs but I liked them quite well. Fact is I miss them, but not enough to drive the gasser.

Robert,

I attached (I think) a couple of pictures of the mirrors on my truck. They are full size "west coast" (7. 25"x16. 25"). The only thing above and beyond what comes in the package is the upper rear strut. This had to be custom fabricated because of the length needed. I used some tubes left over from a previous install and welded two of them together.

one suggestion i'm putting jr west coast mirrors on my truck... and i have electric sontroled mirrors stock... there is one huge hole in the middle and three bolt holes and 2 rivet holes when you pull the stock one's off

Jim,

I couldn't tell from your post if you were asking a question about what to do about those holes. If so here is what I did for my 2nd gen truck. Dodge sold their cab and chassis 1 tons with mirrors mounted on a stainless steel support frame that extended the mirrors out further away from the door. For these trucks Dodge had a plastic trim piece that covered the normal mirror mounting location on the door. Maybe they have a similar piece of trim for the 1st gen trucks.
