We just completed 8,700 miles round trip from LA to SC via Brownsville and back to LA. We had picked good campgrounds from Passport America ( through Camping World. A MUST) and the Trailer Life Directory (it's OK). I can't locate your city but we stayed at Parkview RV Park in Ft. Stockton ( I don't remember the park off hand) but it must not have been bad. Then Take it Easy RV Resort in Kerrville (Quite Nice), Houston Leisure RV Resort was very nice. Then stayed in the city of New Orleans. Riverview was the pits, but Mardi Gras was just OK because we could take the bus to Bourbon Street. Stayed at Browns RV Park in Mobile, Ala. From there we went further North. Hope this helps you in your trasvels. Hope you have a safe trip.

Just a few suggestions...

Bucaneer State Park. Its on your way to Florida just off Hwy 90 in Waveland Missisippi on the coast (not much beach though). Spend a night there and go to Casino Magic on Bay St Louis. They have good entertainment and a killer buffet. The park also has a waterpark in it. Lots of stuff to do there. Another good stop might be Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. A Very nice park with a super beach on the gulf. Its about an hour south of I-10 just past Mobile Bay. There is a very nice outlet mall about 15 minutes from the park if your better half likes shopping. In Florida I'd recommend St Andrews State Park on the east end of Panama City. Best beach this coonass has seen. If you have any questions, call me. PM coming your way.

If you like nature, there was a tour of the swamps just out of New Orleans that was great. The cypress trees are something to see and the gators were everywhere. This was several years ago and in June so I don't know if the gators are out yet.

I am currently in Vicksburg, Ms on my way home from a trip to Fl. Going over, spent the first night at Coushatta Casino in Kinder, La. Terrific park plus a little casino action and a good Cajun buffet. Second night was a quiet little park in Marianna, Fl called Dove's Nest or something similar. Next day was a short drive to Jacksonville, my destination. Am now going home with two freezers full of fish.

Check this out too

Stennis Space Center . Stop at the Waveland /Bucanneer state park exit on I-10 in Mississippi..... Theres a rest stop there. The Center has shuttle buses running every fifteen minutes, excellent freebee. Just saw it today. See some serious engines. Its where all the rocket engines for the Space program are tested.

Back home now. Louisanna is a very interesting place to visit.

Stennis gets two thumbs up. Two thumbs for the swamp tour and airboat ride.

Didnt make it to Bucaneer State Park however, but drove the entire LA coast from Houma west to Texas.

Thanks for the replies.
