I recently had a local Dodge dealer install my Westach combo egt/boost gauge. On the first two tries the tech said he couldn't/didn't get the zip tie around the hose where it attaches to the gauge. Of course it blew off in no time. The third try he said he got it on. In fact it held for a week but popped off again just today on about 30# of boost.

Anyone else had this problem... any tricks I'm not aware of?

Thanks,

Mark

I have mine held on with just a zip tie. It just needs tightened good. I put a pair of dikes on the tie and lever against the dikes and then cut. If there is room, put two. Maybe I should have said diagonal cutters.

Me too!!

I used two Ty-wraps and the dikes pulling trick. Gauge goes to 50 PSI, their method should hold, My truck in current tune only mkes 25PSI  Moose00

PS: Signal 73; Yet another Moose post on the 3rd Gen Forum :-laf  :D Oo.

I used one small zip tye... on the shoulder of Rt 76 just outside of Harrisburg. That little hose blowing off with 20psi sure scares the heck out of a 5 year old.

Using one small zip-tie, it started leaking after a few months at >20 PSIG boost. Refastening it with 2 small zip-ties and pulling them tight with needle-nose pliers, it's never given any more problems.

Mine has also come loose. Now no problems with one zip tie tightened with a pair of needle nose. I had to also do this on the barbed fitting on the manifold. I popped both loose at around 30 PSI.

Checked today and it turns out it blew off the other fitting (under the hood) this time. No evidence of a zip tie there but it coulda just fallen off after the hose blew off. I replaced it with two this time.

Thanks for all the advice. .

I have had mine atached with small tie at gauge and never had a problem with it in over 6 years. I do have it bow a hole in it where it attaches to the engine about once a year and I simply cut it off and use a small wire tie again each time. I always pull it tight with pliers, as the others have said.

Yeah, that's where mine blew off the barb. I used two zips there and pulled them very tight. Much rather have it blow off there than on the back of the gauge. ;)
