I'm buying the Westach Dual Temperature Guage to install in the single A-pillar guage mount. I'm pretty sure I want to install one probe on the transmission. My question is what should I use the other side of the guage to monitor?? Maybe oil or coolant?

The guage will register from 50 deg to 350 deg. Thanks for any suggestions.

exhaust gas would be my next choice, then boost, then fuel pressure with the oil and rear end last

You can get more pick ups and mount a flip switch to go from oil, transmission, rear end if you want.

Doh I am an idiot, the second gauge only goes to 350. I would do rear end as the oil you can get a feel for that based on pressre and coolant temps.

Engine oil temp is easy to hook up and can give you a good indication of how hard the engine is working. The oil filter housing has two 1/8" NPT ports, I used the center one, once warmed up the oil runs about 215 degrees, when towing it can get as high as 230 degrees. It also takes the oil a much longer time to heat up than the coolant.

Besides the EGT's, what is the next best way to tell when you are overworking your engine? My engine is stock, so I don't even know if that's possible. I assume the transmission is the weak link.
