I just received a 30psi Westach fuel pressure gauge and sender from pay it forward, and don't know which wires are what/go where. On the back of the gauge there is three wires at the top, red, green and black. They are in a heat shrinked together. Then at the bottom is two black wires together. Which ones are the wiring for the gauge light? Then what are the top three? I've got the sender, short fuel line and banjo hooked up, just waiting on the cab portion of the install. Also I've read its best to allow the sender to vibrate with the engine. So I've got a bracket made up supporting the sender at the rear corner of the engine. Thanks.

I have had my sending unit on the end of a 18" grease gun hose and ty-wrapped near the master cylinder for 2 years now with no problems. The less vibration the better.

Pin #4 Goes to a 12 volt ignition on power source.

Pin #2 Goes to one of the post on the sending unit.

Pin #5 Goes to ground.

The 2 black wire tied together are for the lights. Does not matter which is hot and which is ground.

Sending unit.

1. Goes to pin#2 on gauge.

2. Goes to ground.

Hope this helps.

Thank ya sir, that did the job!

Now if I can only find out if I can change the lighting color. I don't care for the green lighting. The rest of my gauges have no light covers so they are just white light. This one sticks out bad.

All you have to do is pull the light out of the housing and take the green rubber boot off of the light and you are good to go.

bgilbert - unless you like replacing the sending unit, you should probably mount it on the body not the engine. Like DavidC mentioned, most guys get a grease gun hose as a dampener between the engine and sender. Mine has been operating fine going on four years now.

Thanks for the tip Parks, I'll do that and get it off the bracket that Genos sells off the engine and tie wrap it off the engine somewhere. I have a ~10" piece of braided fuel line between the tapped banjo and the sender.

Just got my fuel gauge electrically all tied in, no fuel connection yet. It seems a little odd to get 2psi by just turning on the ignition. If I disconnect the wire off the sending unit going to the gauge the gauge goes negative psi. What may have I screwed up or is this normal??
