I installed a Westach EGT/Boost gauge in my 97. I have used their gauges for years in my race car, but this is the first time in my truck. anyway, I can't see the gauge at night! the light they sent with the gauge is so dim. I have tried the following, to no avail:

1. move the light in and out of the gauge. I seem to get the best viewing when the light is farthest back in the gauge, but it's still not adequate.

2. I have tried it with the green lense and without. no difference.

I tapped into the wire for the radio lights, so it is controlled by the dimmer switch. maybe this is my problem?

JRS,

I have the same gauge and it is plenty bright. I installed a fuel pressure gauge at the same time and it uses a "shorter" bulb than the combo gauge. Of course I got them mixed up during installation and the combo gauge was dificult to see at night till I figured out what the problem was. As soon as I switched them the combo gauge brightness was fine. Maybe this is the problem, or maybe the factory sent the wrong length bulb. FWIW I tapped into the tan wire on the top left side of the headlight switch for dimmer controled lights. HTH

thanks. I'm going to call Westach tomorrow. the bulb they sent me is really long. I 've tried it in all positions along the length of it. maybe I'm just getting old!!!
