AVOID SWIFT DODGE IN SAC AT ALL COSTS!! Their service manager actually told me it was illegal to have my DRL's turned on. Their head diesel mechanic didn't even know about the white smoke TSB reflash (can't remember the number). FYI the shop steward at Folsom Lake runs his own diesel performance biz on the side and you can even pick up his brochures in the parts area. I've had a good response from Jeff, one of the service writers.

I think there may be more than one Swift Dodge location in Sacramento.

One of them is very CTD savvy and found the fix for right hand pulling by making a mod to a pre 03 ball joint for use on post 03 4x4's. So they mod your chassis and do it under warranty.

I don't know which one it is though, just read it here on TDR some time ago.

Swift Jeep Chrysler Dodge - 4318 Chiles Rd, Sacramento, 95814 - (916) 422-4300

I am not real familiar with Sac, is the one on Chiles Rd in Davis?

yep Chiles rd is Davis,I do not know anything about them though. I have only heard of some nasty things from swift in Sac,but have no experience with them.

I just wish you could opt out of the warranty when you buy and give me the value of it off the top, like $3000-$5000?? I voided my warranty before I ever had a 1000miles on the truck

Any one know of a mod friendly dealer in the boise, Idaho area? I've heard stampede dodge in nampa is mod friendly dealer because they sell the Edge/attitudes there. Don't know for sure though. I need to get door seals replaced but I don't feel like tearing my edge/attitude out to do it just yet.

I too bought my truck from El Dorado Dodge. Day and night difference from purchasing from the scam company Folsom Lake Dodge. Their Sales people were so slimmy with the way they treated me. Having been in the auto repair business all my life and having worked at an Acura dealership as a service advisor. I know that a dealership has three distinct departments ie; Sales, Service and Parts. The service department at Folsom lake ford may be ok, But they will never get a penny of my money after the way the Sales dept. treated me.

Anymore info on El Dorado Dodge reopening. I heard that it was going to be a large used car lot like say Nu-Star type.

I was gonna go by there today on my way home from work, but I didn't get the chance to. From what I can see on the banners, the dealer's name has been slightly changed to El Dorado Hills Dodge, and its now open for business. The lot is still pretty much empty, though. Most likely, they'll have the lot full by next week. I'll post up more info about it as I get more info.

I heard the new owner is the Ford dealer in Placerville or El Dorado Hills.

Yeah, thats one of the rumors going around as to who the new owner of that dealer is. The other is Ron Thompson, but I highly doubt that.

Stopped by El Dorado Hills Dodge today and yes they are owned by the same owner group of Placerville Ford. The Sales dept. is open, but parts and service will not be opened until next week.

MOD friendly??

I know I am going to get flamed for this but I am tired of biting my tongue.

WARNING!! This is a rant. A rant that has been building for years of reading messages here and biting my tongue. If you are easily offended, please don't read further.

When I first joined the TDR years ago (5 or 6 I believe) the attitude here was completely different. The most often phrase I heard was "You are your own warranty station".

Now the phrase seems to have been changed to "Tell me how to hide my mods or a dealer who won't hold me accountable to my end of the bargain".

It's a shame really. Modding has really created an "Us vs Them" mentality. Somebody else asked why the dealers won't just fix things when they can make money off doing warranty work. I will tell you why: the dealers have to get approval for major fixes and if they fix something that Dodge later determines (rightly so or not) that the warranty should have been voided, then the dealer doesn't get re-imbursed.

I know people think it's crappy that Dodge would void a warranty when they believe that the mod didn't have anything to do whatever failed but your warranty is a legal contract. You leave the vehicle stock and they will honor the warranty. That's really what it comes down to.

The dishonesty comes in when dealer "X" says that the mod they just installed for you won't void your warranty. While dealer "X" may honor your warranty as long as they can, if Chrysler gets involved, it is no longer in the dealers hands.

So who's to blame? Well, first of all the people who dishonestly remove all that stuff to try and pull a fast one on the dealers. Secondly, Chrysler for performing just a blanket warranty void without trying to determine what the real cause is. But, who can blame them when so many of the customers try to get a warranty fix for something that they broke by making the truck perform outside of the performance it was designed for??

You know, it's getting hard enough to get legitimate warranty work done WITHOUT mods on your truck and it only makes it worse when folks fraudulently seek warranty work for something they broke in the pursuit of 1000 ft/lbs of torque and 800hp.

Bottom line? If you are interested in keeping your warranty, don't do things that will void it.

Oh, and for the record, I don't work for a dealership or Chrysler. I just think people should be held accountable for the decisions they make rather than trying to get somebody else to pay for it.

I have no doubt that at some point my ball joints are going to fail. When I take the truck in, they are going to look at my 2 inch leveler and say "sorry bud, can't replace them under warranty because you modified the suspension. " That's the risk I run by "modifying" my truck. I am ok with that.

Ok, rant off. Feel free to flame me back, I have thick skin.

Well said... ... ... ..... I would like to add many times I hear the same people ranting about how expensive the trucks are the ones that are trying to get their moded trucks fixed under warranty... ... ..... raising the cost of doing business.
