Yesterday I put the Lone Star Running boards on I got from Tietjen's Lone Star Truck Equipment. This time they fit.

Hey, glad you knew it ahead of time! I just don't trust car dealers and was trying to help out. I don't want ANYBODY drilling holes in my truck unless it's absolutely necessary. I plan on it being around a l o n g time and frame and body rust has a way of shortening the life of any vehicle.

there is no drilling done on my bars or truck they bolt right up.

I know what you mean about trusting the dealers. it has gotten real hard to trust anyone anymore.

Like most people I don't like to drill holes in the body of my truck. I guess my concern with the steps that install on the cab mounts is that the cab mounts are welded to the frame. In the event of a collision, the frame would be more susceptable to damage. And in the 03s with the hydroformed frame, that could be the end of the truck. :( I am not sure if any of the step hardware is designed to break away in a collision. I chose what I viewed as the lesser of two evils. Just my two cents.

You're going to be hard pressed to find running boards that don't bolt to the body AND frame. Westin bars bolt to the frame, if that's something you're interested in. But I can tell you from past experience that snow and ice pack up on top of them, even with factory mud flaps, and make them unusable until you blast them off at the car wash.
