"Federal agents carried out Westly Richards guns..... "

I thought all they made was EXPENSIVE double barreled or bolt action rifles/ shotguns??? Wonder what the chance of these being used in a crime are (would cost more than most robberies would get) and certainly not concealable or the driveby/terrorist weapon of choice.

Maybe we will learn more later from the Feds?????????

"Agents were seen carrying what appeared to be weapons from two businesses, Gunsmoke Gun & Pawn and a dealer specializing in Wesley Richards rifles. The two businesses are owned by the same person, he said. "

Gotta love the "we're not gonna tell you what the charges are" routine. Guess the guy is lucky, the "Federal firearms violations" in Waco led to a protracted seige and the deaths of a lot of people, at least in Missouri they didn't do the full military-style raid...

A guy in arizona got raided about a year back.

I heard they were throwing antique rifles into drums.

The federal government is overdue for a "big show".

There have been a lot of guns stolen around here lately. My neighbor had all of his stolen as well as his bow and knife collection. I keep mine in a locked safe that is bolted to the floor and wall. I'm not sure where the Westley Richards shop was at but Gunsmoke guns is across the corner from Bass Pro. Sure would like to know what the charges were?

Interesting that the ATF (aka the Schutzstaffel) can muster 100 "agents" to raid a gun store, yet you can't get one INS agent to come out and round up one illegal alien who the cops arrested for some crime.

It highlights the Gov't agenda in these matters ... terrorize the populous who wish to exercise their God given rights ... intimidate people into becoming helpless victims of crime or the Gov't ... but God forbid we enforce immigration laws enacted to protect this country.

Now, if this guy running the gun shops was selling guns to known criminals ... thats one thing ... but if this was a media event to scare the populous and stir up negative images of "gun owners" then you have another problem.

Govt' + hatred (of a group of people) + disarmament = genocide.

If you guys haven't read the book "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross, I highly recommend it for an interesting and thought provoking Christmas read. It is a novel, but reads like something out of the daily paper.

The events discussed in this thread are very similar to some events in the book that lead to sudden and unexpected actions by certain citizens.

It appears that the guy had commited some type of felony and wasn't supposed to be anywhere near a gun or even a gun show. He had put the business in his wifes name and was still there selling guns everyday.

ATF is not quite the same ATF everyone loves to hate. For starters, they were removed from Treasury and put under Justice, under "Bureau of Alcohol Firearms and Explosives". Long term this should mean more accountability, and recalling that ATF began by breaking off from the old IRS when it was created, that weenie "tax" mentality by the higherups hopefully will begin to fade.

Being in a similar line of work, I can tell you that I haven't seen any of those agents doing much of anything like what they used to do in years. Their main job (meaning the crime they investigate and charge the most) is Felon In Possn of a Firearm. That is about all we/I hear out of them; they take a local police report regarding a street cop finding a felon with a gun or ammo, write it up, go to grand jury, indict them, and leave it to the U. S. Marshal to go scoop them up.

I won't defend the obvious abuses, but these guys are so hamstrung from the stupidity of the past IMHO it prevents them from doing much more than the above. And I would certainly stop short blaming some good agents for bad political administrations and stupid jackass tax accountants left over from the beginning.

Food for thought
