wet carpet on the passenger floor when ever it rains

No obvious leak.....

where could this moisture be coming from???

How do I fix this problem??

It could be coming from the door weather striping.

If the door drains are stopped up. It could cause the same problem. Do you hear a sloshing when you open the passenger door after it has rained for a while?

If your cab has marker lights. Check to see if the seals under them are good.

It can be coming from the windshield weather stripping. Or you might have a cracked cowling on your truck. Do a search on this forum for cowl cracks. You will get back all the info you need on this topic.

There are a cople more areas it could be from. One is a rubber plug behind the kick panel on the passenger side. It seals a hole that goes into the cowl drain area. I found mine was leaking. This is a pretty good size lug. You can tell if it was leaking as soon as you pull the kick panel. If it has then seal it up with silicone or butal rubber.

The other area, and this may sound like it can't cause water in the front floorboard, Is the cargo light above the rear window. Mine was leaking bad and caused water in the front. The water comes in and migrates around the window and then down to the floor where it works its way to the front. My truck has carpet on the rear wall so I couldn't see where the water was going.

Do a search as I know there is lots of stuff on this item.

tfarnham,

I don't know if by chance your truck has a vent on the passenger side. If it does then check it carefully for any leaks. My 92 only has the vent on the drivers side and it was leaking.

Wow that is alot of areas for water to come in. Makes me think about putting some dye in some water and spraying all those areas.

Thanks

Don't forget under the cowl vent. The drains get clogged with pine needles, leaves, etc. , and the goes straight into the cab.

wet carpet

Mine leaked from a rubber plug that had not seated properly in the floor. Also spraying the underside of the trans. tunnel with the power washer wet the carpet from the bottom side of the transfer case shifter. Have sealed the bottom with a gasket cut from heavy inner tube in the shape of the shifter boot hold down bracket. This also stopped the vibration noise comming up the stick. :)
