wet stock air intake

Anyone having a problem with their 2003 stock air filter geting wet in the snow and rain.



Where is the water getting in? ( through the lid and box or through the air inlet through the fender).



What solutions do you guys recomened.

I punched a 4" hole in the bottom of mine. No more snow problems and doubled the life of the stock filter (for the short time it was on the truck :-laf ).

Mine's never gotten wet... that I'm aware of. At least, when I remove the element once a year for replacement I don't see any signs of water intrusion. Just how deep are you fording with this thing!?

Try checking to make sure all of the screws holding your inner fender liner are in place, possibly some water could get thrown through a screw hole and get sucked into the filter housing.

Just normal driving through the rocky mountians. I am olny getting 5000 mi out of an air filter before its dirty wet and the filter reminder is sucked all the way down.

Punch a 3" or 4" hole in the bottom of the air box and put a small piece of wire mesh over the opening to keep the big stuff out. It dropped my criuse egt's by 50* and extended my filter life from 5k to 10-12k.

I have had mine plug up as well when driving down the highway, when there is a fine snow blowing across the road. It even pegged my filter minder on more than one occasion. I am thinking of drilling the holes in the bottom of the filter box, as suggested. Just gotta remember to do it when things slow down to a crawl.
