It maybe a 71mm. It's either that or a 66. There's none in between that I know of...

There is a 68 mm wheel. I had a charger with one on it. Discussions with two major turbo companies both yielded the same results. The 66mm wheel delivers the best all around performance. Htt has used a 68 and you can get one still, but it is a $200 option. ALso back to the 66 mm wheel performs the best. One idea behind the SuperphatShaft and the high tech series is to keep the shaft speeds up. THis helps deal with surging, and also give you the air you need. 71 mm wheel at this time on the s300 will not leave enough material for the wall of the compressor housings. They have been tried.

I have heard different stories on the Phat shaft 71. I have heard good and bad. How does it compare to the aurora5k??

The turbo that was used on Comp's old ride was a "PS72" and it looked identical to my Aurora 5000 except it looked like it didnt have the forged milled wheel.

Both are K31's from Borg Warner... . of course they are hybrid.

For most a 66 is all one would need or want on the street. But running a 71mm compressor wheel while sledpulling is night and day compared to running a 66mm wheel.

The reason I brought all of this up is because it looks like there might be some "one off" or special Silver Bullet turbo's out there that people dont know about.

your right there is... ... ... ... ... ...

For those of you that want to know some of the differences between a Super Phat Shaft and a Silver Bullet or a Silver 62. Turbine size on the SPS is 71mm exducer, Silver series is 74mm exducer and is a more aggresive trim wheel. This wheel represents the latest design turbine from BW.

Yea I will try not to break more rules. I will be worried that I step over the line. It's a very thin line. Like my post here could be construde as solicitation. It's nice being back though. Brady

Would the Silver version spool up at a lower rpm(sooner) than the Super, or later?

Let's say a guy was going to mostly use his truck sledpulling but would sometimes use it for commuting and driving around to have some fun and wanted to put Mach 6's in it, would a SPS66 be the turbo to go with? Would it spool good enough for the street driving without tons of smoke (remember I live near the Adirondacks where there are lots of tree huggers)? I'm running well used DD II's with the HX-35 and a drag comp now and I usually leave the comp off. Could I run the 6's with a sps64? Thanks

They are about the same in terms of spoolup..... Where the Silver 62 shines is on the topend!

Turbo Tim 1,

You could run the SPS66 but you would need to be lightfooted on the pedal with 6's in. Going with the 64 would help slightly with initial smaoke but you would have more at WOT. The Silver Bullet is the best 66mm turbo I have come across. It has reasonable spoolup, excellent egt control, less backpressure, and awesome power potential!

I know it's just my opinion but it sad when you have to worry that much, it's like your walking on egg shells all the time!

Back to turbo stuff!
