New Smarty updates

clutch slipping?

So, with 50 new turbos sold, I am hoping there might be a good used turbo for sale soon that will fit my application... . :p :-laf

OK I spoke with II they will TRY and include shirts..... But they need to know sizes and alternate sizes if yours is not available. I guess email me your shirt size choices to -- email address removed --. They will ship with the turbo so I need to know asap.

Hey jetpilot Are these a straight take offf ;the old and bolt on the new or is there any adaptation involved? like oil line etc. I think I might want to replace the intercooler hoses also. Any suggestions re this? I have 200000K on the oems

So what would the best turbo be for my ride-2000, beefed up Auto trans, Edge comp, BHAF, 275 injectors, 4" exhaust? Also, does the downpipe need to be changed?

Big white box arrived last night! Oo. Now to find time to put it on along with the 2 piece manifold! Joe, did you make it to town? :-laf

Got mine a few days back and finally got around to putting it on yesterday. With just my DD II's and the comp box it will slam my 40 psi boost gauge, I guess I've got some adjusting to do before I break something. How does the adjustable boost elbow work, turn it in or out to lower the max boost?

TT & others:

I still have the OEM head gasket, I found an old post by Brett on how to adjust wastegate setting on Phat Shaft's. so this is what I did:

To adjust boost pressures down then you would want to lengthen the actuator rod. Now that you have it mounted, this might be tough to do. You'll probably need shop air to get the actuator rod to move so you can pop it off the wastegate. Lengthen it too much, and it starts to open at 25 psi. A little seems to go along way & you can't go less than ½ turn. The C-Clip that holds the actuator rod to the waste gate is easy to lose too. This is where you need regulated shop air, a bench and a gauge to dial it in.

This is what I would do: take out the boost elbow the turbo came with & put a straight through one w/ no set screw back in and try it. This way you won't have to loosen the setscrew, break the locktite and worry about it coming out on you.
