I'm thinking about gettin' me a second cummins from a kinfolk. I ain't talked to him very much about it since he just called yesterday and left a message on the answering machine telling me he put in an order for new one. I don't know everything about it, but I know this much:
1. 1997 slt--4x4--ext. cab--dualie--5-speed
2. around 80,000 mi.
3. body in good condition-no major scratches or dents that I'm aware of
4. taken good care of
5. garage kept
6. no major pulling

What do ya'll boys think this rig is worth? I know some makes of vehicles have some "bad years" as far as quality is concerned. Was there any major problems with the 97's? I'd appreciate any opinions.

Go to
www.kbb.com
and
www.nadaguides.com

Depending upon condition, I usually shoot down the middle of retail and trade-in value.

Bull, if you go to the NADA site that Deezel Man listed and look the truck up or better yet, go to the bank and look in their NADA book and you will find three prices, 1) is loan value 2) is average trade allowance, and 3) is retail. To be fair to both just split the difference between 1 & 2 and your both getting out of this without being hurt. ALL and I repeat all dealers work off #1 and over allow you to make up for their price on a new truck. Hope this helps, Pete

AVG. "Black Book" is $17,350 plus $1,800 for the Cummins. Less $800 for miles. This is from my March 1st issue... ... ...

Another online service you can try is Edmunds
www.edmunds.com
This site allows you to input all options, color, condition and location. From this it will give you three numbers. Trade-in, Private party and Dealer Lot prices. Hope this helps.
