Dynomometers

I think what you're looking at is the three dynomometers. They are actually a type of scale that is used to measure the weight or preload on something. They are used when hanging large aircraft engines to prevent putting too much force on the pylon with the crane.
 
Newlin is correct. We use dynomometers to hang our engines on our aircraft. That way each engine mount is already has a predetermined load on the mount so when you torque your engine bolts, you get the correct amount of torque for the size of bolt. Except that we can't use a crane, we have to use 3 crappy come along type of hoists. Boy did they see the Air Force coming on that one.
