I pulled the crankcase breather box off the top of my valve cover to clean the "filter".
It looks to be only a distribution box. It looked empty inside. I was able to blow right through it with my mouth like it was hollow. I submerged it in diesel and just a little black oil residue from the crankcase that was clinging on the walls washed out. The only thing that may be in it is a check valve flap. Not sure. I have 96,000 miles on it.
Don't waste your money replacing it.
