Yes, That is what I have used and it works well. I buy the 100:1 oil in the white jug at Wally Mart. I use 16oz to the tank. I do notice a difference in running and a bit better mileage. Ends up costing about $1. 10 a tank.

Been using the WAL-MART brand for two years now, whenever the saturation gets thin, my injection noise increases.

I put 16oz of Super Tech(blue jug) in my tank at every fill up, at 1/2 tank, or 32oz on a full fill up.

My truck likes it, despite the critics, and I do not mind the effort or the cost.

Long term results... . extra lubrication to the injection pump cannot hurt.

Thanks

I think I may try it again, see what happens. It did not like it the first time, but that was just prior to losing an injector.

Some info on 2 cy oil as a fuel additive

Steved, check out this site, Home Page

There's a lot of info on using 2 cy oil as a fuel additive there. I've posted my own results there and I'm happy so far... John

yup boys thats the ticket. I do the same, truck runs like a champ. I do a lot of short trips, and injectors are quite!!! I run 22oz per full tank.

I just bought 3 gallons of supertech 2-stroke "outboard" oil. TC-W3 and ashless... should do the trick.

IIRC, its roughly one ounce per gallon, or 1:128 ratio?

2 cy ratio

I'm on my 4th tank with 2 cy oil. First two at 128:1. The necessary ratios are different for pre 03 trucks. I believe 02 and back require 128:1. My 03 requires 200:1(16oz/25gal), however the thicker ratio seems to run just fine. I filled this morning, second tank at 200:1 and will see if noise, response, etc. continues to stay the same . If so, it cuts my additive cost to <$1. 40 per tank. If I feel the need to increase to a qt. per fill, it's slightly less cost than Stanadyne but I like the 2 cy noise reduction and response much better. By the way my last tank MPG=20 even, still winter fuel, up from 18. 5 with Stanadyne or XPD. I like 2 cy oil much better... John

Dumb question - what's the deal with 2 stroke oil added to the fuel? I'm really really new to diesels. (2 weeks) Could someone explain the benefits ?

Thanks

Google "Lubricity Additive Study Results".

It provides a comparison of several fuel additives and should answer your question better than my repeating it.

Steve,

I've used 2 cycle oil for a long time with no ill results. In my truck and my 99 MB E300. It does seem to make the engines a little smoother and increase the economy slightly in the truck but no noticeable economy improvement in the car.

I use the Wally blue jug, TCW3. you have to use ashless or you will get deposits on your injector tips and exhaust valves. I don't know that they make it any other way now.

Interesting the color of the Walmart oil, deep blue, is exactly the same as the little 8 oz. cans of Lawn Boy branded oil.

Think of an oz/gal like this;

1 oz. /gal = 7812 ppm

2/3oz. /gal = 5000 ppm

Which is kinda bringing the lube of the fuel back to the pre 1995 days of having 5000 ppm of sulfur common in #2 fuel.

I used it on my last trip out west got better milage truck ran quieter. I ran it in my out board motor that was fuel inject and had no trouble with it.

I dosed the truck this past weekend, but have yet to drive it more than 5 miles home from the fuel stop...

I will be taking it home about 300 miles to do some work on it... followed by a run to South Carolina. So I will get a good idea of any change.

I tried it for the first time this week. I used 24 oz of the super-tech. I immediately noticed it quieted it down and it idles very smooth. I had an incident a couple of weeks ago in which I assume was a sticking FCA. I'm going to try using this on each fill-up to hopefully prevent any future flare up's.

I had some Polaris 4 wheeler 2 cycle oil on hand and no 4 wheeler that uses it now. I don't live near a wal mart. I put a little in the tank and WOW it is quieter. It is a little cold out today my cattle syringe rubber came off I was using it to mearsure to the oz. I can fix it latter when it warms up. What other type measuring tools do you guys use?

Exact measurements are unnecessary. I use 1qt per fill up on my 05, and 2qt's per fillup on my 96. Have seen better power and mileage with both, as well as quieter running. The blue 1gal jug at walmart is the best deal going. I just fill quarts up and keep em in the bed for a later fillup. .

I tried it for the first time on this tank full. Immediately much smoother than with the grey bottle Power Service I had been using. I've got a couple of long distance runs coming up this month. I'll be interested to see how it acts after a I run a few tanks through it.
