Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What a Difference!

I've had the truck a week and I've been enjoying it. Yesterday I installed a K&N, removed my silencer ring amd straight piped my baby. Good grief. It's like a whole different truck. Now I really can't wipe the off my face. I can definately tell that there has been a power gain. Going to see what if any mileage improvement I get today on my way south. Now I need some gauges and a set of 275's. Anyone know the Bosch part #'s for the 275's? Where's the best place to get them? How much debt am I going to have to get in for them (I can see I'm going to be broke beforre it's all said and done).

Here's a suggestion that may save you $$. Don't jump into the 275's unless and until you feel this is where you plan to stop on your bombing adventures. Otherwise, I guarandamntee you will be looking for bigger injectors in a few months, along with a clutch which you will need to handle more power. Get your guages in and do some reading in the archives about steps in the bombing process. Try to find a TDR member and drive a truck with more bombs, etc.

Like the others have said, wait for a while on the injectors and get your gauges in. I promise you will want more so go big the first time. My truck has had two different sets if injectors in it and I have a third set waiting... .

Definitely wait and get some bigger injectors. I don't think you'll be happy with 275 injectors after a few days. I'd recommend some DD2's.

A few months ago after putting in my 275's... No one could have convinced me I would be shopping for DD2s already...



I Just finished raising the cash for my DTT auto transmission build so it will have to be after that is done, but from the tone of your message maybe you should think about the Stage 2 injector offerings to start... . save a step and minimize that waisted cash..... after the gauges that is "and" start thinking about the clutch upgrades and... on and on and on.



JUST A THOUGHT... . I AGREE WHOLE HEARTEDLY WITH THE ABOVE!



Actually if I didn't live at 5500 feet I would be getting the DD3s with my future new turbo.

I'm single though so I don't think that one is going to work for me. I do have a couple of girls that I'm seeing so maybe I can try it on them. Only bad thing is, the one that dishes out the cash for everything is me so I can't tell myself to give me money and make me a sammich.

Reb, welcome. Sounds like you should buy the 275's from one of the guys that just upgraded to a DD2's. That way you upgrade and they are not stuck with the old 275's. Since 275's are a stepping stone up the path to destruction and damn nation maybe some of you upgraded guys could start a "pay it forward thread" with your old used 275's? I'm sure Reb would give you one of his old saddles.

If anyone has low mileage 275's I will consider purchase. I was at TIM and vendor put in a box for demo. Liked the power , just not smooth enough. Already have HO, so a ''little '' increase would prolly be enough. [quit laughing please] Looking for a little more low end torque.

Don't even bother with anything smaller than DD2s. I have them, and I was surprised how tame the smoking is, even here at 6K feet.



I would get DD2s or 3s right off the bat (injector wise), but get gauges first, then a box. Then you don't have to worry about having a box you don't need (boost fooler for injectors).



Start with an Edge EZ, Van Aaken, or DDTPM. Then add your injectors for nice smooth power (and no wire tap!)

Don't believe that "just get a little this and a little that" crap!

You can save yourself a lot of money if you will just face reality and go for broke the 1st time around. I spent 10k just buying sh&t I ended up takeing out. Look son try this combo. HX35/40 turbo or bigger. DDIII-IVs or V's or their equal. Edge comp box or its equal and tap the f&%#ing wire! Get Gagues and transmission /clutch upgrades first. Trust me on this. The guys are gonna hate ya and the girls that like BIG TRUCKS are gonna LOVE ya! Go for the gusto son you only live once and you are going to spend the money any way!:{ Oo.
