At 8:30 this morning the debris removal contractor on one of my jobs backed his dump truck into my truck. :{ The flat bed struck my left rear just below my camer shell destroying the tail light abd body around it. I went and got some estimates and the whole quarter panel is going to have to be replaced. 5-10 days to do the work. I'm leaving next Friday for 10 days in snow country and I need a 4wd. Their insurance company is giving me a hard time about supplying a 4wd rental vehicle. :-{}

At noon after running around getting estimates and fighting with his insurance company I headed for one of my other jobs. Half way there I ran over somthing on the freeway and had a blowout. :{ Good news is my spare had air in it. :) Bad news is the tire was desroyed. 4 new tires and $700 later I'm back on the road. :mad:

Now 4pm and time to go home I get back on the freeway and my steering has LOTS of play :eek: The forward ball joint on the 3 MONTH OLD! idler arm is coming apart! #@$%!

I'm going to go hide under the covers now. :{ :{ :{

damn that sucks dude - hey, beer's in da frig and it's way icy cold - come on over and have one on me. I can guarantee that won't be a bad event...

Hey West!

I know what your dealing with. I had a real bad feeling that somebody just booted Mr. Murphy a good one and he was headed my way. Had this voice you know. So up goes my rig for the winter albeit a bit early this year. :(

Dam deer around here are picking on us again and in a bad way. The roads are strewn with carcass and I'll bet the body shops are booked solid for the next two months!!

Sorry to hear about the insurance co. woes too. Sure don't make any of this easier do they.

GL

man do I know that feeling... sucks when a day/week of work COSTS you money!!

my favorite was when I was backing up a ramp w/ my door open looking over my RIGHT shoulder and didn't see the HUGE stack of 16 foot long pallates stacked 10ft high that were on my LEFT :rolleyes: getting the door closed was a bit of a challenge :( that was not a happy wednesday at work.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with your truck. However, on the bright side all bad things come in three's. You have had your three.

GL,

Not sure I have some family up north around akron, heck you should have came down tonight for our meet and greet hand a nice little turn out, your more that welcome to look over my truck .

Hey guys thanks for the words of encouragement. Today was much better. No one hit me. Oo.

JD- having your 10 year old truck bent up is bad enough. I can't imagine how sick I'd feel if it was new! I may have a 2007 orr 2008 in my future, just depends on how much I can get for my first born. :D

ECJ- I appreciate the offer but I have WAY too much experience driving snow covered logging roads with a 2wd.

BW- your too kind. No worries I'm covered. Thanks

Green- so what do you drive durring the winter? You got some kind of Mad Max post apocolyptic bonzi rig? or maybe a Ford :-laf

jbolt,

Went to your gallery. That's a sweet rig, best of luck getting her fixed up right.

Your twins gallery is a work of art!!! :D :D Anyone who hasn't seen this, go there imediately!! I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!!!

In a odd way you are lucky, you were not hurt when the tire blew out and you were not on a large construction site were the general contractor always states in fine print that neither he or any of their sub contractors are responsible for damage to personnel property. And anyone parking their truck, car or anything else, does so at their own risk.

Man, sorry to hear about the disasters, our trucks are really tough BEASTS! But, if you could look at things in prosective: No one got hurt, you can get the highest estimates to milk the contracting company, get your rig fixed-up real nice, and maybe cover the cost of the tires or some other upgrades with the extra ca$h. Just trying to promote the positive, things will work out! Patrick.
