I have had my 05 Ram 3500 for about a month and some ******* backed into the bed. Now I need to get it fixed. . I am thinking about getting a replacement bed. Anyone know of a place I can find a black short bed?

The best part is that the truck was parked in a lot at a resturaunt and I came out to find it like this. No note or anything.

If you know where I can find a black short bed let me know here or email me -- email address removed --

I know how you must feel.

I recently got rear ended in my 2004. 5. Initially I thought the guy was going to stop. Then all of a sudden the brake lights went off and he bolted. It was at night, about 3 miles from my house. I went off after the guy. He had a ford ranger. My wife was with me at the time. She got on the cell and called 911. After chasing this guy for about 10 minutes the moron finally must of realized he wasn't going to shake me. I live in a rural area so most of the evasion was literally going through corn fields. My wife therefore couldn't give the cops a location of where we were. Anyway the moron goes home. I block his truck in with my truck. The cops show up. Of course he starts giving them the run around. They realized he was dui. Then he's refusing to co-operate with the field sobriety test. What a scene. I ended up with $1500 in damage, it doesn't take much. Basically rear bumper and hardware, tail light, and litterally only sum rubs from the vinyl strip on his bumber contacting the painted part of my box. Theyn ended up painting the whole side of the bed back to the tailgate. I have a white truck so it was easy to match. It just $ucks when it's a new truck.

I had a brand new 1986 Ford diesel 250 (yes I admit I once owned a Ford) and was parked in a store parking lot. I started to back out, and a woman across from me started to back out after me. She hit the side of my bed and put a good dent in it. When the cops arrived, she told them I had backed into her (she couldn't explain why her car hit the side of mine, if I was the one who backed into her). Cops said that we should both just contact our insurance companies, as he could not cite anyone for an accident in a business (private) parking lot.

RidinNy - last month I was at the Cavs game watching them beat up on the Knicks :) and came back out to see my truck had been hit - no note at all. Well with my $1000 deductible, you can imagine I said some choice words as well. It's in the shop right now. The entire bed is off, and they are replacing the right bedside. They can separate the pieces quite easily etc, so if you have an isolated area just that section can be completely replaced. Since my truck is relatively new, I wanted a full new bedside, not a repaired one. Good luck fixing it.

PS when the bed is off is a good time to do any fuel tank vent or pusher pump mods you might want to do!!

Cop should not cite anyone in an accident case unless he was a witness.

I just got rear ended on Friday 1-28-05 in the middle lane on Rte. 495 East which is a major highway here on Long Island. It's a three lane highway plus an HOV lane. Anyway, I was driving in the middle lane when several cars in front of me stop short. I brake hard and as soon as I hit my brakes I get hit from the rear. My truck is lifted and I had my 10 inch drop trailer hitch in. No damage to my truck. 2001 Honda Accord that hit me, messed up. He was able to drive away from the scene. I pull over, he pulls over. As soon as he gets out of his car, he states I changed lanes in front of him. NOT!! I just got a copy of the accident report and now he claims he was in the left lane and I cut him off from the middle lane, yet all his damage is middle to left front of his car. Now he is trying to file a claim against my insurance co. when he hit me. I can relate to the title of this post. I'm just glad I have no damage.

A woman backed into my passengers rear door in November but she came into the restaurant to confess and offered to pay for the repair instead of calling her insurance co and the police. I agreed, traveled to 3 different places to get an estimate and ended up at the dealer, who was also the cheapest. She sent me a good check immediately. The dealer, who must have to make invisible repairs from time to time on new cars that come in scratched, or whatever, did a fantastic job. Absolutely invisible repair and paint. They replaced the door skin and blended the paint so perfectly it is amazing. Cleaned the truck to perfection, all detailed out. What a great ending to a terrible beginning. Texture, % of metallic, depth of finish, gloss, A++++. Patriot Blue/Silver. I'd check with the dealer for the above reasons.

Nothing to settle down about, I understand it is only a truck... My comments refer more to the fact that people seem to have no values these days. To knowingly cause a considerable amount of damage to someone elses property and not claim responsibility for it is what I have a problem with. The truck can be repaired... I understand.

Unfortunately many people's values cannot.

I don't know what kind of cops live in your area, but I can guarentee you they can and do cite individuals after traffic accidents, and they are rarely there at the time of the event... . ;)
