ugrade to drag comp, is it worth it?

Enterprise Engine....

I have not heard much about either of these two turbos. Anyone running these combinations please let me know what you think of them. I know Pius modifys turbos like the HX-40 but the DD Max Boost turbo is supposed to be different turbo altogether like the B1 or K45 . I am interested in keeping all of my options open. Thanks.

Toooobos

Pius doesn't have a very high opinion of the HX40's. I doubt he'd sell you one. He was hybriding the H2E with a HX40 turbine housing. That would be a much sturdier turbo.

The DD MaxBoost turbo is a "modified" HX40. They seem to have a decent success rate regarding their version of the HX40.

I bought the DD Max Boost turbo in June 2001, still have it and have put ~50K miles on it. When I was at their shop having it installed, I asked them if it was a bone stock, unmodified HX40, and I thought I was told yes, no modifications. It is entirely possible I mis-understood, or perhaps back then, they didn't do any mods to the HX40. This was at the height of the Majestic Turbo modded HX40 blowing themselves to bits, and I didn't want to take any chances, which is why I went looking for a bone stock HX40...

I had one on my 2001. 5 that was the hardest working turbo ever.

I dynoed one time at 426 HP. That was with a blown intercooler boot. I still saw over 38 psi of boost. That is working real hard to get there. Still on the truck and running hard. Call Kieth and order one tomorrow. You will be very happy.

Pius makes some great turbos... . many of which I have not tryed out, but he is a one off shop... which means he don't do volume turbo building... but he has some of the best turbos out there.

The USB is one these great turbos with an 8mm shaft and more airflow than the hx-40. This also incorperates dual wastegates (that actualy work) to keep boost levels to where you want them.

The WSB is a screamer for the mildly modified guys. It has a HUGE map.

The H2 Hybrid is great for racing, kinda slow spool up.

All the above turbos are very strong and stomp the hx-40

Does anyone have the number for contacting Pius?. I would like to give him a call and get some info on his turbos. Thanks to all that replied.

Schwitzer or KSB1?

PM Joe Donnelly about Pius turbos. Joe seems to have a little more time to discuss the details than Pius. I haven't called Pius because everyone says don't, he's too busy working on my turbo.

I have been discussing turbos via email with Joe and Rod. Joe is helping me figure out which of Pius' offerings would be best and Rod is pimping Kurt's KSB1 :D.

Kurt seems a bit busy too. Rod and Joe are busy too I'm sure, but do get the emails out in a timely fashion. Thanks guys!

I'm looking at the KSB1 or the Pius Schwitzer (similar to H2E). 'Cause I'm adding 100hp injectors next.

Anybody who has been in the room with both of those offerings OR anyone who has actually run a PIUS turbo, please chime in.

And there are Pius-tuned 40's available.

I have a HX40 built by Pius, purchased from Joe D. Turbo spools fast, there is no noticeable difference in lag from the PDR HX35/14 I had previously, and EGTs dropped down at least 150 degrees from the HX35. This turbo sees 30-35 psi daily and it

even went up to 48 once. I think I should reconnect my wastegate. Smoke is also much less.
