i'm just curious about this because it seems everybody jumps right to the #10 (or more). is it that the 10 has a better overall profile? the truck i just picked up is the first diesel for me (though i've worked on diesels a bit over the years) and is unmodified. it seems to be a little soggy under 2krpm and i "thought" the wastegate might be stuck open. i put a test gauge in the cab and it pulls about 24#'s once it's spooled up. i guess i just hafta take the time to hook up a regulator to the gate and see if it's working properly. one of the deciding factors in my buying this truck was that it hadn't been modified. i use it to pull my race car trailer and when i weighed the whole rig the other night it was 13,020#'s. so the trailer/car is about 7,000. i don't have any real intention of "bombing" this truck as it does what i need it to fine. i do want to get a pyrometer (before turbo?) on it just so i know where i'm at. it seems like most guys here are really into cranking these things up but it's not on my "to do" list.

thanks for the input

The #11 seems to be the recommended one on a 5spd truck. The EGTs can get toasty with the 10 with an other-wise stock truck.

If you're getting 24# on boost, the wastegate should be fine. On my auto truck, the most I could hit stock (w/K&N air filter), was 20#.

How old is the fuel filter? Have you cleaned the pre-filter screen? Good overflow valve? Good fuel pressure?

Sounds like you may need a governor spring kit (GSK).

Once you get a pyrometer, you could slide the OEM plate forward a bit, for some "free" horsepower.

I see your muffler is MIA, how 'bout the cat?

You can find the info for the questions I asked on http://www.dodgeram.org/support_pgs/diesel_ix.htm

That is a great site to put in your Favorites list. :)

12 is intended for 230 hp (the truck I dynoed gave 236) with egt's safe and OK with stock cluth.

11 is intended to give a power level that will push the egt and clutch to the limit. Be prepared to consider a better clutch and a 16 cm2 exhaust housing.

10 is for competition, clutch will be toasted and 16 housing is the minimum acceptable exhaust/turbo upgrade needed to keep egt down.

I worked with Mark @TST on these plates and did a lot of dyno testing on them. All are good, depends on your purpose.

#12 is just right for me, little more spunk, not as eye opening as the #11 I had in for a day, (clutch didn't like it). With the not so long stretches of road combined with my road rage tendencies, the #12 is perfect for me.
