i'm just curious about this because it seems everybody jumps right to the #10 (or more). is it that the 10 has a better overall profile? the truck i just picked up is the first diesel for me (though i've worked on diesels a bit over the years) and is unmodified. it seems to be a little soggy under 2krpm and i "thought" the wastegate might be stuck open. i put a test gauge in the cab and it pulls about 24#'s once it's spooled up. i guess i just hafta take the time to hook up a regulator to the gate and see if it's working properly. one of the deciding factors in my buying this truck was that it hadn't been modified. i use it to pull my race car trailer and when i weighed the whole rig the other night it was 13,020#'s. so the trailer/car is about 7,000. i don't have any real intention of "bombing" this truck as it does what i need it to fine. i do want to get a pyrometer (before turbo?) on it just so i know where i'm at. it seems like most guys here are really into cranking these things up but it's not on my "to do" list.
