What about the engine when the truck reaches EOL (End of Life)?

I would go for the gen. I am sure it would be really fuel efficient if it was demodded accordingly. I am pretty sure the average house dosen't need 500 HP and 1k of torque to power the necessities. Lots of mufflers, and a good location would make it very pleasurable. Just my 2 cents.

I'd say it's time to BOMB the lawn tractor. You'd be the envy of the neighborhood. No more bogging in tall grass... just a little turbo whine and the tall grass is history.

I like the generator idea also, but i think that B5. 9 would sure make the M35A2 duece i have(needs another engine, the multifuel is blown) really scream and in that think i could unleash the power of the Cummins like its supposed to be instead of holding it back with all this flash and program crap they have ours detuned with, Imo...

I have two friends that have 94' rams with the turbo diesel, and both have over 250,000 on them and they are running strong!



So, I guess if you are only expecting 250,000 before the truck goes to pot, you may want to rethink. One of these trucks is used every day, the other is only used two to three times a week now, but surprisingly they are both in very good condition, and everything works!

So the engine will power over 21 systems all full capacity. Note that this would be running 100% of the time, which the system does not do.

Now those are figures a Texan can love! I have about 15-18 other houses on my block, but don't have the HO 5. 9ISB. But I could still set up a generating station on my property, hook up all my neighbors and keep them powered when storms knock out the electricity. They would pay to get hooked up, of course.



I could actually see doing this, though not for the whole block. For my immediate neighbors, yes. We don't have that many lingering blackouts around here, but when we do it's usually when it is hot and we need the A/C, and food spoilage becomes a problem then, too. I would be that if I let my neighbors hook up during these times they would be more than happy to buy the fuel. There are some elderly people in my neighborhood that would be particularly grateful in the summer months. I'm liking this generator idea more and more...

When you figure out how to get the 5. 9 in the duece let me know. I wanna put a 500 hp 12v in my 1969 M35A2.



There's a guy over on the steelsoldiers.com forum that is putting a CAT 3208 in his. He's looking for a buyer for his old motor. Maybe you could pick it up cheap if you don't want to mess with repowering your own.

I like the hot rod idea and the generator idea. Personally, I want to take my 2003 engine and rework it with mechanical injection using a p7100 pump. I don't look forward to doing that till after at least 15-20 years though! I bet the ole Cummins would really perform with all the electronic garbage done away with. Hope to get 300,000 or more miles out of the ole '96 though. 193,000 and counting... still running strong!

All the more reason to take good care of the truck, heck my Dad's Nissan has over 300K, he just doesn't beat it. If something breaks like a power window motor you gotta fix it before it becomes a big ole long list of things.



But if it were to end up that way the motor would go up for sale and you can bet that some poor sole who cranked the power up too high, inhaled a turbo or the like would snatch it up in a hurry.

my ctd is 12 years old and the motor is in great shape, the truck needs a paint job and maybe a new clutch and would be perfect, everything works and has held up just fine. The ctd should be in chassis overhauled at around 300k but will last up to a million miles if taken care of. Remember to service the anti freeze, the ctd has sleeved cylinders and bad antifreeze will eat the walls and you'll get water in the oil.

I asked my brother this question, and his response was that he would give the engine to Dad who is in the process of restoring a International truck to haul his tractors on. And, that would be an easy swap with the truck already having the old 727 TF trannie already in it!
