this may have been discussed already, but I didn't find it.

Is Dodge going to be able to keep using Cummins with Ford as the parent company?

I think a Caterpillar Dodge would be snazzy. ;)

Wait until you try to bomb it!! "Cat is the most greedy bunch of turds in the industry. " (quote from a Cat dealer) They would rather be hung than admit that any improvements could be made to their "perfect" engines. They are very against "improvements" or bombing in any way. I'm glad we have Cummins.

Does Ford own Cummins?

No, at one point Ford owned less than 10% of Cummins stock, but now Ford doesn't own any Cummins stock

Jim

A. Ford is a Cummins customer, just like DC. They buy the ISB for the F650/750. Otherwise, they have not owned any Cummins stock since 1997.

B. **IF** the Dodge/Cummins relationship ended, DC already owns Detroit Diesel. The V8 version of the DELTA engine would blow the doors off the Duramax and the upcoming smaller Powerstroke.

C. Why would you come to the Turbo Diesel Register and try to get that ridiculous Ford/Cummins rumor past us? Don't you think we KNOW BETTER?

Don't get me wrong here...

My quest is for a 12V to drive and bomb. I've already talked Dad into adding smoke to his 12V. Mom will be a more difficult prospect. She might go for guages.

I'm just curious as to what coal-oil burner Dodge might wind up with if they lose Cummins. And thought you folks might be up on the buzz.

I'll be happy with the old Cummins for a long time--I have 328k miles on my gas hog. Surely I can put 7-800k on a TDC.

I don't tow much, just like to haul a$$. When I do tow I have to borrow a Cummins from Mom or Dad.

Somebody asked my "what are you going to pull with a Dodge/Cummins?" my response was "whatever the heck I hook to!"

Thanks for setting that straight

It's great to have the TDR forum so we can squash rumors like that.

unrelated comment:

quiet diesels--girlie car! (No offense to noisey girls):p

that one dodge silver colored concept truck had the cat 3126e 300hp spec engine in it. i like that little cat diesel. . the turbo noise on that engine [after many wot snaps :)] in the engine lab at school would make your head ache after a few minutes. i like the sound of the current b-series cummins, but that cat just purr's so nicely... just bump the governor to 3k and that would be a nice motor in any pickup truck

An aquaintance at Dana had a Cat in a fl60 used to pull 5er. Two injectors went bad. Cost was more than an entire set of customs for 5. 9. They have hp improvement kits-very expensive for very little performance.
