I ran my 5-spd last night, best of 15. 5 -- launched in 2nd, Wheel hopping really bad...
Clutch almost gave up :{
BigDan said:I cant believe you guy's are punishing your daily driven 6 speeds at the track. Ive told you before 6 speeds are not meant to be drag raced. Its just the way there built. Thats why you get chitty times with a 500 or even 600 HP trucks.
... ...
Face it its a waste of money to drag race a 6-speed
Ive had both a
02 HO QC, LB 4X4 w/ ez that ran 16. 7
99 QC, SB, 4X4 DTT stock with comp box 14. 7
... ...
JasonCzerak said:You guys gota be in the low 14's to high 13's with over 500hp.
Reason I say this is the cars I've seen raced on the street and the ones I've raced.
For example, latest race was my buddys 2500, Same truck, except his is a sort box with bully dog stuff, a funky turbo mod, and some fuel mods.
On the highway, 50+ we are DEAD EQUAL. Pre- Confe, we were equal, depends on who got the jump first basicly.
Tomeygun said:Well to give you an idea, My 15. 5 run -- I had a 98mph trap speed. The same as most high 13 sec cars.
That just means my clutch is not up to the task of launching at 3000 rpms in 4wd... But dont worry, The DD will
LesStallings said:I don't believe a NV5600 will ever be a speed shifting transmission. The sucker is HUGE and designed for heavy truck use. Mass x speed results in an inertia that is hard to overcome (accelerate or slow down) when shifting.
I feel sorry for the syncros in the NV5600 transmissions that folks try to speed shift.
JasonCzerak said:And how's the auto any different. Heck, it falls apart in stock form at over 100hp over stock.
The only thing that thinks about failing apart at 150hp is the stock clutch in the NV5600. CAn't say that for an auto
The only problem here I see is currently ATS is the only company that builds a better then stock transmission. From their site, short of heavy dity barrings and what not, nothing to enhance "speed" was changed.

pwerwagn said:Alll I gotta say is I have a 5-speed, I race it, Ive gotten some decent 60' times. But as soon as I get the $$, an auto is going in. Its just not worth the money to break the 4500 all the time. One of my syncros is already gone and I just had the trans out in dec...
Our track is 5200' altitude. with my stock clutch (slipping), and just a #11, nothing else, I pulled a low 2 sec (2. 2 I think) 60' (launching in 1st... if I launched in 2nd, the clutch wouldnt do its job) and around a 16 flat at 89mph.
Im sure with the good clutch and other stuff, im in the mid 15's now. But my bro-in-laws truck has waaay less power than mine, and he runs 15 flat. If we race from a 30mph roll, I can pull a few truck lenghts on him. but if we race off the line, its over. I think he runs 1. 9sec 60 foots consistantly... .
My reccomendation... . buy an auto. It hurts to say that as much as I love standards!!!!!

You will hit 1. 9 60ft all day once you know how to launch.
