I won a set of fastcoolers at the Texas TDR meet. These things are really slick... so, I figure I will install them pretty soon. Just wondering what choices I have as to a replacement oil. I heard the Castrol is expensive and hard to find... any suggestions?

The 6 speed uses Texaco MTF not Castrol (5 speed). I got a 5 gallon can of the Texaco 1874 MTX fluid from my local Texaco dist for $54

I'ts good oil, probably the best for your 6 speed. Here's the specs -

Call the 800 number in the spec to find a dist near you. If that doesn't work go to dogpile.com and do a search for "Texaco oil" and look for a dist near you.

Go with Amsoil.

I have been using Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 heavy duty diesel oil in my six-speed for 15,000 miles now. Shifts are smooth and positive in all temperatures. It is also very convenient for me to stock only one oil for both the transmission and the engine. Order from the Amsoil website or your local Amsoil dealer.

So far,the only oil that is designed for use in the 6spd is the Taxaco stuff. Expensive? Yes,but the engineered piece of mind is there.

The Amsoil isn't designed for 6spd use,and Amsoil won't say they recommend it either. I am an Amsoil dealer, but since I'm not convinced,I won't use it.
