Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) what are the 4 10 rearends good for

With the 5 speed and 265s, 70mph at 2,000 rpm would be 3. 55 gears.

With 4. 10s the rpm would be around 2,300.

Ditto. My tires were 265's before I changed from the 4:10s to the 3:54s this exactly what my speed/rpms were.

I have a 98 and it came with 4:10 rear end (2 wheel) and I replaced it with a 3:55 which was all that was available at the time. Thought I would see better fuel milage but NO change. It might be because I have a Gear Vendor. I should have known when the Gear Vendor made no difference. It does (both things) make the interior cab noise quieter and that my Wife and I both like.

the 4 10 is ok

but on the freeway you are turning high rpm's
