They used Michelin LTX M/S about that time. There was thread about 2months ago like this the Toyo ? looked pretty good.

I love my tires (Cooper ATR). I think you should be able to get them in your size in a D rating. Drop down to LT 265s and get an E rating if needed.

I haven't tried the michelin w/the 285 size yet, but, on my bronco they were great. I have bridgestone dueller a/t that have lasted a good while as well on my 2500 ( substantially longer than my bfg's).

"E" rate. Pick your poison. I like the Toyo offerings for an AT or MT. Michelin is a great tire. They just don't offer an "E" rated 285+ tire.

If you get the Michelin ATX M/S tires, you will need 4wd. They do last a while though. JC

The Michelin is a great tire but if you want to keep you 285size I would say nito duragrappler. I have about 55k on mine and they ride and hand aswel as the Michelin's and in a couple months I will be buying a second set

In a larger size tire the Toyo E rated M/T's are excellent IMHO. My set of 315's has around 30,000 on them and really show little wear at all. Pretty quiet and excellent grip in most all conditions. Really neat looking tire too. Expensive though.

I have a set of Toyo Open County's. Got about 35k miles on them and they are holding up very well. Good traction in snow, mud and on wet pavement. Ride is pretty good and fairly quiet and I did not loose milage when I switched from the stock michelins. As I remember the price was pretty good too.

Winter Time i run the BFG T/A Commercial tire... Nice tire for snow and ice..... Non-winter tire i run nothing but Toyo M/T...

I have never liked the Michelins and can tell they're on a truck by the "soupy" feel on the road. Most folks apparently don't notice this but it bugs me every time. Parelli Scorpions are really nice on the highway, but not the best on snow or mud.

I have run the E-rated Dick Cepek (by Mickey Thompson and advertised in the diesel mag's) for over 2 years now and LOVE them! Absolutely the best tire I've ever run for all conditions. They have a more aggressive tread than a lot of E-rated tires, but are still quiet on the highway; drag racing they grip hard off the line and handle 120mph like glass; in the snow I'm passing everyone, including mountain passes up and down; I haul horses and hay and they don't ever get sloppy feeling.

They're wearing out now, and I'll be getting them again...

On my 98 since I removed the stock Michelin tires at 15k I have ran 4 sets to get me to the now 195k on my odometer. I had A set of Cooper Discoverer ST's in 265/75/R16,a set of Firestone Destination M/T's in 285/75/R16,a set of Cooper Discoverer STT's in 285/75/R16 and the now being run Pro-Comp Extreme M/T's in 315/75/R16. ALL have gave me good service but if you ask me which I liked the best I would have to say the Firestone Destination M/T's. They gave me the best ride out of all of them and lasted the longest,however,I only have 15k on the Pro-Comps as of now. I like the Pro-Comp's and the ride is good but I feel they are a tad too soft and will not fair to good with overall milage..... Andy

Seems like the Toyo Open Country M/T is getting a bit of love in this thread, I very much like mine, but $300 a tire for E load range is too pricey. Try to find a deal on them.

I'm on my second set of Kuhmo Road Venture A/T's. They have done me will in all sorts of weather from the heat of Florida to the snow and ice of Iowa. They raised the price for this model, but still a good value. My first set of Kuhmo's gave me 50k miles.

The Michelins that came on my truck were junk!!! An ok highway tire at best. Almost 0 traction. Been using BFG AT's since and they were a great improvement However I just put a set of Toyo MT's on and I had them in snow over the bumper and I couldn't believe how they just kept going and going. Awesome tire, ride nice, handle nice, quiet.

Expensive but I don't drive my truck that much so it's the only tire I will ever run again period!!

Yep! Exactly my experience in the past. Great tire if BFG could just make them round.

I am looking at tires right now myself and Michelin makes an "E" rated tire in 285. It is the LTX/A2. Very similar to the LTX M/S.
