When I changed my lift pump some months back I found one of these tiny coper semi circle wires stuck in one of the holes of the outlet check valve. Just today I changed the left pump out on my counsin's '97 and found the exact same thing in his outlet valve. On his it was the valve in the piston that was failing but I want to know of anyone else has seen this. Where on earth could these little pieces be coming from? I am really curious about this now that I have seen the same thing on two trucks.

Sort of looks like part of the tank module fuel line quick connects. Have both the trucks had the module removed for a gauge repair?

Can't tell size from you picture, but if it's the dia of a dime (maybe a touch smaller) I would guess it's part of the lift pump check valves.

They are just a little over 1/4" OD. How could they be part of the check valves? The valves are just big flat pieces of rubber unless there is something else in there I can't see.

Are they really copper? Ferrous or Non-ferrous metal?

Never had a lift pump off but are there any springs in there that could break off????

Just wondering too!!
