I'd rather have a 3500. There are even some 2013 Laramies left with black exterior and black interior. I prefer chrome grille and bumper as it is easier to clean off the bugs. If they used a tough powder coat on the black bumper, it could be OK.

Out here in the desert southwest, black is less practical.

All I see is a never ending battle to keep it clean......I love black, but switched over to reds and whites years ago. Those colors hide the dirt a lot better than black will.

JMHO...

Mike.

I guess I'm too flippin' old - back when I had my first vehicles, black wheels were a sign that you were either poor or cheap and couldn't/wouldn't spend the $$$ for anything better. I know they're popular now, but I still can't buy into the idea....

Just the musings of an old geezer....

I've always wondered about Black colors on car/trucks, never have bought black for the reasons already stated. Figured you would be washing and cleaning all the time.
I've always bought, blue, white or Silver, current color. Also i figured for night time driving a little easier to see lighter colored cars/trucks, then all black. Due to the occasions when someone might not have turned their lights on, which i've seen as everyone else, as people come out of gas stations, or bars, at night.
I know a lot of people do buy their trucks Black though.

I have never owned a black car or truck. I have owned white (22 years), blue, green, red, and now copper. Copper is a popular color with the local culture, particularly Native American. Last night I had dinner at a New Mexico tribal casino and copper was the most popular color in the walls, carpet, etc. I even could eat off copper colored plates, lol.

Black looks great when clean. That's why I have white. I'm not a fan of big rims. Too much to clean and replacement rubber costs more.

I was never onboard with the Black out look, I think it's a younger generation fad?, but I'm from a generation that loved the big wide 50's on a set of Crager rims,
now I see these Chip Foose muscle car rebuilds with oversized see thru rims on low profile tires and I say YUCK!!

The way they set up the black package looks good. No worries about dirty chrome.. I see quite a few here in Phoenix, not RAMS so much, but other vehicles in general.

My first and last black vehicle was my 07 Ultra Classic Harley Davidson, never again will I own black. The first time I cleaned it and applied wax to it, you could see swirl marks from that, and made it look like it was 5 years old. I'm from the 50' slicks with Crager's as well, I also don't understand the 20" rim with a 1" tire.

I like it. Wish they hadn't stop making the sport package. I hate chrome. To me it's a pain to keep clean and looks to much like a work truck.

It must be a generational thing, because to me, chrome is the accent that gives the vehicle that special look, I just wish it wasn't chrome clad plastic.

X2 - love the chrome trim but I think adding aftermarket el-cheapo accents can really make a vehicle look gaudy such as the stick on chrome door handles, gas cap cover and mirror covers.
I'm not really crazy about the latest Laramie packages with the painted bumper. The chrome bumper looks much better to me.
Painted bumpers on the front and rear are ok if it is a work truck.

Good to hear all the thoughts that everyone expressed. I wasn't really considering the Black Package" for myself but had a friend looking at trucks and we discussed as many folks mentioned that black sure looks great when clean but you're really fighting a losing battle with it trying to keep it clean.

In my opinion the old "Sport package" was the best compromise letting you get the monotone look in several different colors. I think Ram should bring that back to the 2500/3500 series trucks as they have it in the 1500's.

An option as Joe said was the "Tradesman" series which does offer less of the overwhelming chrome look. I also just noticed the Limited version foregoes some of the chrome and offers painted bumpers.

Thanks to those that posted with their thoughts. Long live the RAM. Oo.
