I use my cordless tools extremely hard. The only one I have owned that I have not destroyed is a Ryobi 12V, it simply does not have enough power to be hurt. I have owned recently (all 14V) 3 Boschs, 2 Milwaukees, a Porter Cable, and 6 Makitas. The Milwaukees were gutless pigs, both went back in less than 10 days. Great ergonomics and good features but less power than most 12V tools I have used. The Porter cable is a HOSS! Great power and built stout, but heavy and short battery life, still runs great. The Bosch is a nice tool, power is OK, battery life is good, but kept breaking the transmissions. Bosch is a nice unit, but not really suited for heavy hard use. The Makitas are my favorite, but not without problems. Battery life is awesome, ergonomics are good, power is good to excellent. I have had 4 transmissions break with the new NiMH powered 14V drills, the NiMH batterys make it nearly equal to the PC in power. The standard batteries (nicad) in the Makitas have had ZERO problems. I do use a DeWalt 18V quite a bit too, best drill on the market. Downside is it is very heavy and expensive but the power and good battery life make it worth it. I will buy the DW 18V next and see if it can take me using it. Bear in mind that my use of these tools goes from very hard to outright major league abuse, so the breakages I have had do not surprise me and are only an indicator of quality for people that use them as they were intended to be used. Hope this helped.
