Thanks, TDR Staff

new truck buyers beware

Whos using Amsoil 10w30 diesel oil in their rigs

Per my post here: https://www.turbodieselregister.com...ywhere-over-last-two-weeks-2.html#post1902704

So, I started off in that other thread about contacting local media. Lets start with that. Lets get organized and post some ideas of how to get the messaged started.

I understand we all have jobs to attend to, so we must spread the load over alot of folks. I sure as heck can't do much other then emails and calls and letters every so often. I sure as heck don't have a clue where to start technically as to the best way to approach this. So, who is? :)

Why dont we all fly a flag of protest?!? a yellow sign of some kind like a picket sign on ALL our trucks!! Like the truckers of the 70s we could unite all diesel drivers with a common emblem like a frowning smilely or something with a catch phrase!

OK, since this is a Diesel board, with lots of members, how about a thread or sign up page with a well written lead that explains our fuel cost concerns as voters, drivers and workers, to as many appropriate legislators as possible, from the President on down - and not only THIS board, but the other diesel or automotive boards as well...

Since it YOUR thread, Jason, how about YOU heading up the effort? :D

I'm not one for stickers on my truck (except under the hood). But I could go with something like that. It needs to point to a website of some sort with info about this new "movement" for lack of a better term

Who's got a creative touch with websites? Anyone from TDR want to consider a new .com and a wiki or blog style site to compose information about this problem?

www.SaveDieselPrices.com

Or something like that.

I could front the costs for a hosting if the TDR staff can't/won't take on something like this.

This site should essentially link to out side articles with summaries of them. Who's on board to help author and edit such a site? I can work on the back end. Also provide a means for use diesel owners to take these "templates" and put them into actions by email, calling, voice our cornern to the government and media.

I can take care of the technical stuff. www.PetitionOnline.com - Free Online Petition Hosting is a start. I'll poke around there now and see what to do to get one going

I agree, this isn't Dodge specific. Hence a more netrual site should a bit more appropriate (and reason it's not in the political section, as to get search able exposure by non-members.

As far as who, and the lead text. That's something I wouldn't have much to go on. Gary, you seem the type to be able to write up an intelligent letter that we all could back!

Also... As a REAL and PERMANENT fix to ALL these fuel problems, we could all pledge and unite as diesel owners everywhere and buy ONLY biodiesel. No more petroleum at all. It will take a major commitment and sacrificial effort at first as the infrastucture needs to be assembled, but it can be done! It is a win/win situation as American farmers grow crops that can be brewed into diesel that Americans use to get American products to market to make money to feed their American families and in the process reduce pollution in America! bio is viable and in use now, the cost is now competitive with crude die$el which is ri$ing daily. Lets use good ole American boycott capitalism to get what we really want , a profitable for all, clean, independent America!

Let me see these letters you have sent. Lets see what we can do to work on them to bring them up to date with information (if you sent them a while back)

Ever use Google docs? :) Do you have a Gmail address?

docs. google.com. Group colaberation. It does word docs and all that.

My Gmail account is -- email address removed --. Allow that address access to any of these docs.

heh, any number of domains can be aliased to a main one. However a sensible and easy to remember main .com name is needed.

I like ControlFuelCosts.com This could also relate to gas as well as diesel, Tho, gas doesn't always seem to have the "problem". :)

And ControlFuelCosts.com is available.

Here's what I had suggested some time back, and sent to a large number of papers, networks, and the WH:

I have been increasingly tempted to start my own small letter writing campaign, focusing upon irritation over seeming irrational pricing of fuels at the pump.

At first, I thought a large number of letters arriving daily on the White House doorstep would get some attention - but THEN I realized even MORE action and attention would result if those bags full of letters were written as "open letters to the current administration", and sent to NBC, CBS and all other major media headquarters - they are always looking for new ways to embarrass Bush, and would likely jump at the chance to place these letters prominently in their newscasts - and that MIGHT generate more focused attention to the issue - maybe even some action...

Yes, I feel that the more and longer we LOUDLY and OPENLY make our anger and frustration known, the more likely we are to obtain results - and that complaints direct to the parties responsible for setting policies and pricing MIGHT not be as effective as the same complaints directed to mass media in an effort towards generating greater public outcry and support - after all, letters to government and oil companies mostly just get swept under rugs and disappear.

OR, we can just sit quietly, and "hope it all gets better... "

Strong and focused public expressions on various issues throughout past history have motivated significant changes in political action and direction - I feel it CAN happen in this case as well!

Along the lines of the above, I have originated a sample letter that some might use as an outline for their own letters (feel free to copy mine if you like!), and send them on to you own local area newspapers and other appropriate media outlets.

A search here on the Internet will provide access to the major networks - and some members might suggest other direct sources.

Here's my personal letter - already sent to the local paper, with others yet to be sent out:

An open letter to the Bush administration, and future political candidates:

I have become increasingly concerned - and angry - at this country's continued dependence upon foreign sources for the lifeblood of our nation - energy!

I am appalled at the apparent indifference and lack of intense focused action and programs by our country's political and industrial leadership to greatly reduce or eliminate that dependence, and return the sovereignty and independence this country once possessed.

The wheels of our industries, transportation and agriculture turn on availability of economical energy - and steady deliberate political and corporate reduction of our economical access to reasonably priced energy is as much an act of effective terrorism, and as damaging to our survival as bombs in subways or planes flying into buildings!

I hold the past, and current, administrations responsible and accountable for our current and future survival as a free and independent nation, as well as those in industry more interested in profit than the continued survival of our nation.

I fully expect and demand that our national leaders and various energy heads begin an aggressive and vigorous program to promote increased energy production within our own borders, in the form of oil, natural gas, coal, agricultural based (bio-fuels), solar, and others as yet undeveloped or unexploited.

As a voter, I want it known that the fuel independence and programs proposed by the next candidates for my vote will rate exceptionally high in my decision as to where my vote goes - regardless of party affiliation.

Along with those issues, is my expectation of prioritized governmental application of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Sierra Club influence in deciding far-reaching issues affecting broad areas of the well being of our society. Trading the tranquility of Spotted Owls and obscure tree frogs for the health and existence of humans must end, or be decided by priorities rather than unfounded emotion.

We must return this country's self-sufficiency, and our political/corporate agenda of blood and lives for fuel, and profit, MUST come to an end!

Signed-------

I'm seriously liking ControlFuelPrices.com

I'll give it a few hours to allow more folks with nothing to do on a Saturday night to chime in :)

AH, so you DO like SOME of my writing... :-laf:-laf:-laf

(just joking!) ;)

SO, where do the "signed" petitions end up, how do you specify a recipient?

When ever I wish and to whom ever I wish. In fact, I think just pointing the necessary folks to the live petition is sufficient. But I can print and order hard copies to send as well. . I've never done this site before so I'll work it as we go.

The price of oil should be matched by a bushel of grain at the same cost. Two can play the same game, whereas the cost of each should be the same. So it doesnt really matter what the price is because the demand would be the same. The conclusion is that these oil controling countries need our foodstuffs as bad as we need their oil, we just dont charge them by the same ratio.

I'm with you guys 100%.

Our energy situation in this country is out of control and dangerous.

Controlfuelprices.com sounds good to me.

Gary-K7GLD: Great letter.

Moe: Great idea, we have more food products than we know what to do with.

It will be a huge uphill battle, but if it can be done, I'm sure this TDR group can and will, at least, get it started.

Let's do it! Ray
