I'm trying to decide what CFM electric fan I need for my 06 2500. I don't tow with the truck. Well, maybe 2000 pounds (four wheeler and trailer). I just want to make sure the AC works well in the florida heat. . The truck is a daily driver/drag strip toy. . Thanks. .

For comparison the stock fan is around 8800 but I think that's the older trucks. Newer ones (04. 5 up) stock fans are probably ~10,000 cfm.

Will the codes set off the check engine light? I saw where the flex a lite fans are rated at 6000 cfm I believe for the dmax. . I don't want to do it if it will cause problems. . I just like the thought of a little bit of mileage gain, a hint more torque, and a cleaner looking engine bay. .

Nothing is for free. The alternator would put the load on the engine, that the fan is putting on now.

It would actually put a little higher total load (though spread out over a longer time, if the battery can temporarily supply some charge), since the motor-alternator circuit is only about 80% efficient. You may need a bigger alternator. When cars had fixed blade fans, going electric was an advantage, but with the thermostat controlled fan (ours) the only time an electric would have an advantage (as in less fuel consumption and higher torque) is at very high rpm, and more cooling at stoplights.

You can put a smaller/quieter fan blade on.

I have seen the light on for some of the fan codes, and there will be a few... .....
