I posted a similar question a while back with little response. But after driving a friends '99 right before he traded it I noticed how different the shift pattern was between mine and his truck.
Someone mentioned the fact that it was probably a shorter shifter in his 99. So I went to my local stealer and told my buddy at the parts counter about it. He looked up the price for just the shifter for a 99..... $260:--)
Price for a shifter for my 97... . $60
So now my question was did anything change between the 5spd trannies from 97 to 99?? Was it just a shorter shift lever in the newer trucks, or was the linkage on the transmission different too?
Thinking of locating a junkyard that has a 3500 of that year and see if I can score a lever and the 1-ton tailgate light bar for CHEAP?
What do you guys have to say about this?
