I have a 1993 W250 with 54,000 miles on it (maybe Robert will give me a prise for low mileage) but all that Will change soon. I ordered a 5th. wheel Keystone Tail-gator. I would like to put in a Chrysler radio/cd player. What years and from which Chrysler vehicle radios/cd players will fit into my truck?

I think most of the large style chrysler radios are all the same from mid 80's to 2000 +. All the ones I have swapped had one black and one grey connector on the back. Only ones that won't work are the newer rounded style like in the 2003's.

I have a whole box of stock chryco radio's,from various cars and trucks. Your welcome to have one if it is any good to ya.

Or you can go to the Crutchfield site and click the tab "WHAT FITS MY CAR" and fill in the blanks. Normally Crutchfield sends free install kits (wiring and dash bezel) with any radio purchase.

I have tried several radios in mine and I found the best sounding one to be the stock radio out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It slips right in and everything plugs in to it. And it sounds great!

Granted, I have better speakers than stock, but, even without the amp that the Grand uses it will drive you out of the cab.

If you are going to put in a stock Chrysler stereo go with the Infinity Gold out of a Chrysler car or Grand Cherokee. I don't know if it is true or not but an electronics friend of mine told me the Infinity Gold stereo's are made be Alpine. I had one in my Grand Cherokee and it put my buddies high dollar(?) Delco sound system to shame. I personally run Pioneers in mine, they make one that fits the stock opening and I have a steering wheel remote in addition to the little credit card remote. It is alot easier than trying to reach down in the rough riding son of a gun to turn the stereo up.

When the lousy stock radio died in mine (really did some strange things on its' way out), I replaced it with a Pioneer, which gained me good sound and CD. I bought a mounting bracket kit that made it fit nicely. Next, the factory speakers need replaced. Anyone had any luck finding good 4x10's for the rear of the club cab, or better yet, a clean way to install 6x9's?

mprtrpr, it sure can be hard to hit the right one of those little buttons while enjoying the fine first gen ride.

6x9's

Hey JFitzgerald, If I had a *******digital camera, or could figure out a way to post pictures, I'd show ya my set-up. I bought some high-dollar Boston speakers, (6x9's) installed the ones in the doors and the other set sat around for almost a year until I decided that the only way that they would be used was if I made some boxes. I took out the factory ones and made my boxes to fit exactly like the factory. They sound gooder than a...

Pictureless for now... .

Infinity Gold, :D :D :D only to fly it you want stock. I have a Sony am/fm/cassette/10 disk cd with Infinity speakers that I bought at circut city. My wifes 97 Town & Country has a infinity gold 10 speaker system and it will blow you out of the van :D :D . Its cool that this 40 year old can annoy a teenager with my loud radio in a mini van or rattlin diesel truck :D ;) :p

Chris, sounds like a possible "TDR Member Basement Enterprises" opportunity for you.

"Dieselman's BHSB" (Big Honkin' Speaker Box). Oo. :D Oo.

I figured someone had gone to 6x9's, since I have yet to hear a 4x10 with the punch of a 6x9.

Chris,

What material did you build the speaker boxes out of?

Are they just a little bigger than the stock plastic ones or are they pretty big?

Thanks in advance,

Caleb

P. S. I bought the best 4x10's I could find, they are Pioneers and I still had to modify the way they bolted in because they weren't exactly like the originals, they also don't work as good as the 6x9's in the doors.

I got mine at www.onlinecarstereo.com

they were part#TSA4103 the service was excellent but the speakers didn't come with grills like the description said, I didn't care because I put them in the stock boxes.

Blue Jay,I put a Infinity radio out of a 89 Plymouth Gran Fury in my truck because it is a high power radio with a cass. and e/q , then I put a add on after market CD player in line. The radio went out a few months back so I took it to a place in Houston that repairs Dodge and Chrysler radios. They keep lots off repaired radios in stock and if they have one like your broke one you just buy their repaired one and leave the broke one as a core. I ask them if I could do a upgrade to a newer year and one of the counter sale people told me that in 2000 or 2001 that Dodge had change the wiring harness plug that plugs in the back of the radio and that the newer radios would not plug in. Don't know if that is true or not???????????? You might want to check that out.

If you still have some of those Mopar radios, please send me an email. Thanks, Bill -- email address removed --

My 1991 has a small hole that looks standard, my 1994 has a 'double DIN' hole. I asked here and was told to check ebay for parts, and they have them. For like $7 (plus $4 shipping) (just saw the link yesterday, if you want I'll dig it up) there is a double to single bezel plate that mounts to the dash and the radio/cd player slides in they also have a plug that goes into the stock harness and another for the back of the radio. You just wire the plugs together. They had a couple of angle pieces even for $12.

I say this just because I bet if you put in the ebay search box your year truck and like bezel or plate and adapter, you'll probably find everything you need for like $10 (if you already have the radio)
I'm constantly amazed on how 'granular' ebay is-you want it they probably have it.

Do you still have any old MOPAR radio/CD players? I'm trying to find one for my 1990 D250. Thanks for any assistance/information ...
