Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) what code is this

i have a p1693 code and i need to know what it is anyone know or know where to find it

1693 = DTC Detected in ECM or PCM, companion code. Have you pulled the codes to see what else is showing up. This code just tells you that there is a problem detected.

there where a couple other codes we cleared them and that one came back again and again but nothing else would show up my problem is though my transmission wont shift into 4th

It simply means you are looking in the wrong module!The companion module is where you need to look. If you are looking in the ecm and get it look in the pcm to pull the code that matters and vice versa.

so where is the hook up for the pcm and will the smarty connect to that

All the controllers are accessed through the same dlc,I use the drb so I have never needed to try it with the smarty

Bob is right but, it does not only apply to the TCM and ECM, it applies to any module on the BUS which include the ABS and BCM modules. The VP also has its own module.
