Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) what controls the low idle governor?

Is there a sensor or does the ECM control the low idle governor on these engines

It seems as though I had fixed mine for a short period of time when I put in new batteries and new terminals on the battery cables.
I left the batteries out for a couple of days.

It did start working for a short period of time. I thought "great, cool!"
But then it started doing the same thing again, almost dying when taking off in second gear.

So I'm hoping that there is some sensor that is telling the ECM incorrect information, or is my ECM going bad?

What you're referring to is the "anti-stall" and I believe its controlled by the ECM. Try Googling that and see if you come up with something which can help you out.

Other than that, you may need to try unhooking everything again, turning the key to ON for at least half an hour, turn the key to START to help drain residual electricity from the system, then reconnect them and reset the APPS. It may help.
