You pointed out the seed of the problem "... the media's view... ".

IT"S THE DAMN MEDIA THAT"S KILLING THIS COUNTRY. If you don't tune in, then they can't maintain their 50-60% profit margin (that's a real number). So what do they do? They SCARE you into watching. "Tune in tonight to find out if your neighbor will shoot you", "Are your kids really safe at school". . and on and on. Every ad is a scare tactic. And TV is a very powerful medium. Just look at all these poor Americans, who used to be able to excercise common sense, and now they are all becoming afraid. Afraid of anything the media wants them to be afraid of, so they will turn their TV on, and watch. It's all happenning because the TV/Media want money.

I just wish people could see past this media scare tactic thing, and use some common sense.

It appears you have a well thought out way of your own that works for you. I'm not made the same way as you. You sound like much more of a diplomat than I am. I am a "What You See Is What You Got" type. I get teased by wife and friends about being so direct sometimes. I also do a LOT of business because of my style. This lady was on my property and I believe a 3" sticker is not a mission. This lady was very confrontational and was the one on a mission. As originally posted there is also more to the story. To all who read and/or replied,

I have my opinions about politics, religion, and guns but don't normally care to debate what they are. The one subject that I will debate occasionally is guns. I don't apologize for owning or carring a gun. Why? About 30 years ago my new bride and I were awkened by a drugged out of his mind thug that had just kicked our door in carrying a 22 revolver. His crime spree ended that night with my 12 ga shotgun. In 1988 while I was out of state on business I watched 2 18-19 year old sisters get kidnapped by two thugs. 1 hour and 70 miles later a state trooper and I shot and wounded them as those girls ran for their lives. In both cases these criminals preferred unarmed victims. The young women they raped, robbed and murdered three days before were also UNARMED. I sincerly hope to NEVER to be forced to make the decision of shoot-don't shoot again.

Mike brings up an important aspect here. This is always my point here on the boards when someone pipes in with something along the lines of, "You shouldn't allow your truck to smoke because of the people who are opposed to diesels". You CAN NOT pacify these people. They aren't looking for compromise. The people who are opposed to guns are just like the people who are opposed to diesels, they aren't looking for common ground, they are looking to enforce their will over you i. e. to have power over you and how you live your life. Just the other day I saw where some group armed with their wonderful statistics, is out to sue the food industry because Americans don't eat right (in their view). No one seems to notice that what they are saying is that now we can't even be trusted to make our own decisions about what we eat. It's all about enforcing their will over you and making you submit to it. Best advice I give ya'll is NEVER NEVER compromise. It's only compromise if the other side gives up something too. When you compromise you lose, plain and simple.

You just described my wife! I've been through ten years of it, four months of Paxil, and now I'm ready to either make a change or make a run for it. You are right, right, right...

What the heck is wrong with these people who think they are so blessed with a mission of controlling other's lives? Yet you look at their track record and it's one mess right after another. One thing I can't stand is a control freak either domestic or political. They put up a good front so everyone thinks they're top knotch but when you finally figure them out they're manipulative, controlling liars. They lie and maniplulate when the truth would do fine. They have the patience to slowly manipulate everything that goes on around you until they have everyone convinced of anything but the simple truth about anything and everything. A word of caution for the young folks on the board male or female... If your mate to be shows any signs of lying, manipulating or trying to alienate you from your friends or family or hush you from telling simple truths to their family before "discussing" it with them, see the red flags and run... Distance yourself as far from this person as you possibly can. Or definately don't vote for the bass turd.

Oh man you hit a nerve. Excuse my while I go way out in the woods and have a temper tantrum. I'll be back in a few days...
