I need to find out what the cost of the rear defrost window option was on a 2004. 5 SRW 3500. I ordered the truck with this option, but when the dealer entered the order, they messed up and I recieved the plain rear window instead. I am in the process of completing the small claims paperwork and need to know what this option price was. If you have the Employee Price, that would be even better since I paid the EP price for my truck. They have had over 6 months to correct this issue, so now it is off to small claims court.

Also, does anyone know for sure if the wiring for the rear defrost is already in the truck, even if it didn't come with that option? The dealer told me that the wiring to the window is not there, and this is where the high cost comes from. They quoted me over $1,100 just in parts to refit my truck with the defrost option...

Thanks for the help!

according to the chrysler ordering system, the MSRP for the 2004 model year was $70 and the Family Purchase Price was $62 (this is in CA) the 2005 my remains the same...

BStoecker, did you actually pay the price for a truck with a defrost window or one without the defrost. If you didn't pay the higher price, you have no damages and there is a very good argument you waived the breach of contract by accepting the truck you have. Just trying to save you some possible frustration/anger.

I did not pay for it because it was never entered into the computer correctly by the dealer upon ordering. So, yes there are damages. They screwed up the order. On top of that my salesman admitted that their elderly fellow in the dealership was having serious eye problems and messed up several orders that month. They did install my steering wheel audio controls, so that to me admits that they realize they screwed up. I still have my original paperwork I had in my hand the day I walked through the order with my salesman. He keeps telling me that they are going to replace my plain rear window with a slider and that they are just waiting for a dealer trade to come in with the correct rear window. Problem is that I don't want a slider. It does me no good with a full cap on the back. In Michigan, you really need the defrost when you can't fit an ice scraper between the cab and the cap. To me it's the fact that I buy a $45,000 truck and they can't even order it right... It only costs me $45 to file the complaint as well. I am willing to pay the price of the option, but not the $1,100 in parts my salesman said would be needed...

Why didn't you just not buy the truck? How is the dealer liable? they did not charge you for it?

In the middle of June, you don't really notice not having the rear defroster. When I ordered the truck, I didn't know that there was an option for just a plain rear window. It didn't have a slider, so I didn't realize it didn't have the defrost. My buddy happened to notice the little wires for the defrost weren't there. I really didn't have a choice about picking up the truck. My credit union had already given them the money instead of getting it to me. I wasn't happy about that either, but they had the money. My beef is that I told the dealer EXACTLY what I wanted. I knew more about the truck options than they did. But, I ended up with less than I wanted. This is the first time I have ever owned a new vehicle and is the first time I have ever ordered exactly what I wanted. For the price of the truck, I darn well better get it my way. Two options were missing when I picked up the truck. The defrost and the audio controls. They admitted they screwed up and agreed to install the audio controls. Now I want them to do the window and they are not willing to do it. In no way did I do anything wrong, but I ended up with less of a truck than I ordered. If they aren't liable for messing up the order, I don't know who else would be.
