On my 21st, I was a chaperone for a group of High School girls (wink-wink) for a months' journey thru Italy and France... turned 21 in a discoteque in Florence, Italy, summer 1981. What a deal!

Cleaned my barracks room, pressed my cammies, drank a glass of milk, called my Mom and Dad, walked to the McDonalds later on with some friends and made fun of the Sailors. I was in aircraft maintenance school at a Naval Air Station and didnt want/need any bad marks on my record. Saved all the craziness for the fleet.

Started drinking in DE then was taken to the "BLOCK" in Baltimore MD. Stopped at a few bars along the way. Ended up at a topless club called stage door. Stayed there checking out the sights then off to a peep show, on the way home the four of us picked up a hooker. While she was turning tricks a block away was a shooting and three of us not almost but did I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER our pants. The other guy didn't even know what happened. While taking her back we ended up in a high speed chase with Balt. City. Lost them near the city line though, dumped her off at a place called Chico's bail bonds. Drove back to Cecil Co. and had breakfast at the Petro truck stop in Elkton and finished watching the sun come up.

Legal barhopping age for me was 18. (Of course I NEVER had a drink before that. Just like Clinton never inhaled. ) I hit all the bars in town for my free birthday drink and had a really good time. At least that's what my friends told me when I came to, the next afternoon. #ad

Went back up to Boulder (after Finals week) went to the Hill and drank a 32 oz scotch and water, hit several other bars in Boulder that night with a good friend who left Iran with the Shah's party. He was the youngest member to ever compete in the National Guards national Pistol competition. And was a Medic (only job he could get in the Guard as an Iranian citizen in 1980's). Still have that 32 oz mug on the shelf. Oh-yeah, drove home after sobering up, and was pulled over for falling asleep at the wheel! No ticket, just got the adrenaline pumping enough to keep me awake for the next 10 miles!

I got off work and a co-worker took me to a beer joint in Muskogee, OK. and ordered me amiller high life. We were building a bridge about half block away. It sure tasted good. Was in July so naturally it was hot outside. I'll never forget it.
