OK guys. . you all give me that nice warm fuzzy feeling, when you help each other out, so let me ask for some advice now.
As some of you know, I had a work related back injury a couple years ago. After that, I went fruity on you guys, right here on TDR, and most of us had some fun with it.
In the mean time, since I was unable to return to my old job, my employer stuck me into a tech job, maintaining over 1000 computers. They pay me 1/2 what I made at the old job, but workers comp pays the rest, and is paying for education to boot.
I don't have much of a problem with things the way they are, but there might be a fly in the ointment. By boss had been promoted and will be leaving my department in January. That leaves just me, in the department.
I have the feeling that they will offer me the job, but they will try to make me take it for what I made before I was injured, so they can get me off workers comp. The bosses job currently pays about 20 grand per year more than what I was making before I was injured.
Do you think I should take the promotion at a reduced salary? What if I were to lose workers comp benefits, if I refuse the position at a reduced rate of pay, should I take it then?
Another thing that I will lose, if I get get off workers comp, is the education support.
What do ya think?
