Hey guys i keep seeing everyone say you dont need to buy a whole new transmission to be handling about 500 rwhp. Is it true all i need to do is get a torque converter, valve body, and some kind of transmission computer controller? I for sure will not sit here and save 5500 dollars:)mad: ) for something i really dont need. I know the tc,vb, and trans conputer would be more like 2000.

DUE TO THE FACT OF TRANS WARS I DONT WANT TO HERE THE NAMES OF THE COMPANIES YOU THINK I SHOULD GO WITH JUST POST WHAT PARTS I WOULD NEED..... If you have something to say about a certain company either send it to CUMMINZDIESELMAN@AOL. COM or pm me. I dont want to get in any trouble so i wrote this warning.

THANK YOU

Nick

Depends on the company. With ATS you can get just the T. C. , and Valve Body and Commander and you will be just fine. Call them all and make some friends and go with the people you feel most comfortable with.

I've been considering upgrading mine so I can go out and get the TST box when it's available.

I really don't know what all I would need, but besides rebuilding it, it seems as though all you can do is replace the VB, get a new TQ and add a controller.

Which is exactly the 3 items I have been considering doing.

ok,,, tc, vb, and smart controller.

so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, lez say ya want to be able to hold 500 hp,,,,,,,,,,,and use an e-brake,,,,,,,,,,,,,,would ya also need to change the input shaft.

what other recomends on the 48re on a rig that tows, sometimes grossin out to 24,000 gcw total

whats the deal with damage to the THRUST WASHERS if ya use an ex-brake. can ya change them buggers out to bettr ones

the transmission in mine so far is new,,,,,and hopefully in perfect shape

y-knot, I agree!:D

Muddymess, as I used to tell my remodel clients, "You can do anything you want to... its just a matter of time and money!"

ATS uses Torrington thrust ball-bearings instead of thrust washers along with many other re-engineered parts to hold the HP. If you want their number it's 800-949-6002

hmmmmmmmmmmm. interesting. ATS uses Torrington thrust ball-bearings instead of thrust washers along with many other re-engineered parts to hold the HP. thanks rr

so,,,,,,,,,,,,with the torington thrst ball bearings no need to worry using an e-brake huh

i also be interested how dtt goes about the thrust washer prob. still confused bout input shaft

heck,,,,,,,,,,im still confused on the locked tc during shifts causin probs,,,,,,,,,added pressure vs triplelock clutch,,,,,,,and so on

was a lot simpler when i drove nv4500s and 5600s:confused:

heres what i found. .

Valve Body, Racing Edition 2003-2004 CR VB-RE0304R $528

TripleLok Commander™ lockup clutch controller << Ver2. 1 >> 1990-2003 Commander $399

TripleLok™ three-disc lockup clutch torque converter 12v and 24V 1994-2003 PTC12V3 $1,370

the total for parts would be about 2300 bucks. Id probably drive to pick them up so no shipping.

How much would these be to install?

That's what I'm looking to do except the towing VB and maybe an emjay controller.

Not sure which TQ would be better, the DTT or ATS, I know the DTT is quite a bit cheaper, but no one get into any arguments over that now.

Call the vendors. ATS's number is 800-949-6002

Clint Cannon and his guys, I believe, have done the most thorough job of re-engineering of all the Performance Trans. Builders. Call them and talk to them.

ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so why wld the ats tc be better than the dtt. what makes it superior and what is at fault with the dtt unit. and the same ? about the vb and controller. im still curious as to what dtt does to address thrust washer issue w/ e-brke

my interest is primarily towing with occasionally playing up to 500 hp
