OK, truck runs fine sometimes and then will lose power, check engine light comes on and I have codes p1693 (of course) and then e1690. Temp is not hot (190) all seems well, just no power. Shut off for 5 to 20 minutes and then will run like normal, codes go away 'til the next time, may be 5 miles or 30. Problem does not seem to happen until I'm up to operating temp.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Ron

P1693 (M) DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC Detected in ECM A 9 Companion DTC9 was set in both the ECM and PCM.

P1690 (M) Fuel Injection Pump CKP Sensor Does Not Agree With ECM CKP Sensor Problem in fuel sync signal. Possible injection pump timing problem. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.

Not good news, your VP-44 may be on the fritz.

You're right. not good news. Could it be a faulty ECM, bad connection, bad ground? (I'm hoping it would be the easiest and cheapest)

Ron

Have you had anything done to your VP44 injection pump recently?

You'll get the fuel sync error if the offset key that positions the timing gear to the VP44 is installed wrong or wrong offset key is installed.

Nothing has been done the vp. I'm going to try disconnecting the plugs and connectors and checking for clean, dry and good contact. I really hope this works.

Thanks, Ron

Hey there, I am getting a P1693 on my truck as well. I've read the definition as posted but am unsure what exactly it means. Can anyone elaborate on what the P1693 code means and what I might try to get rid of it?

Doesn't seem to be any problems with the running of the truck at all. just a check eng light and a code...

Thanks.

1693 is very simple... ... ... . it is telling you you are looking in the wrong module!

If you are scanning the pcm and get it... ... ..... look in the ecm. If you are looking in the ecm... ..... go read the codes in the pcm. These 2 modules share info and work together somewhat. Many signals are shared between them to get the job done.
