My 2001. 5 is being considered for sale. I was just wondering what it would be worth? The st dealer says " trade in is 22,500 bucks" I think it is worth a little more. I will try to list all the mods.

Guages; 3 on the pod

Edge drag comp

DDII's

Afe Mega Cannon

PDR HX40

Pinnacle exhaust/ Jardine

DTT full update transmission w/ 89 tc and towing vb

DTT smart controller

Mag Hytec DD trans pan

Ranch Hand Grill Guard

BFG 285/75/16 AT/KO's

Line X

Custom Gooseneck hitch

The truck is fully loaded, everything but leather and snow plow prep.

It has at this time 55,000 miles mostly hiway.

I really love this truck but I need to upgrade to a 3500 4x4 regular cab. I want the hauling capacity of a bigger truck.

Go easy on me guys. Just need an idea of what it is worth on the private market... . Thanks, Greg

:-laf :-laf Greg's just jealous cause the wife won't let hime drive the new one- she told him to get his own:-laf

Seriously though, the problem I had in selling my truck with mods is that it's difficult to find someone who's willing to pay for them. If you still have any of the stock stuff, put it back and sell your stuff seperately- MUCH easier to get some $$$ for it faster. Some people wouldn't even touch my truck because of the mods, they have heard "bad" things about it. If you could find someone in the TDR or who could appreciate what you have in it... ... . I would say something closer to $27K would be more in line.

Kev

First off... . Don't even start with that raffle stuff with me buddy:-laf

Now she lets me drive it whenever I have to go to the store for her... I mean anytime I darn well please... :D I guess if we sold raffle tickets for $1000 and we sold say 25 or 30 of them to make the raffle valid... Then maybe just maybe... ... ... ... .

You know... ... ... ... . Hmm a lottery. All we need is 25 guys, $1000 bucks. 1 in 25 chance to win a truck. Not bad odds!:D

You know ever since we threatened to raffle off Cary's truck we haven't seen him:eek:  :-laf

No offense is intended toward you with this post, but if I saw a truck sitting on a lot with all these goodies on it I would not buy it. My feeling is if somebody put all this stuff on the truck, they used it. There is lots of stock motors out there that have not been subjected to the abuse these devices can create, and that stock motor still has a warranty on it, big selling feature.

I know this stuff cost you a lot of money, and I wish I could afford the DTT trans stuff for my 02, but the dealer is responsible for that truck when he sells it, and this one has all the goodies he don't want to see.

I treaded in a 98 with 80K miles, and just gauges. The dealer sent it right down to the auction as soon as he got the title.

No offense intended, but the used market is over loaded right now with all the rebates on the new stuff. Its worth more at a dealer if it was stock in the publics eyes.

But find somebody who wants the truck, and all its mods yourself, and you might get a little more money for it.

Greg, just for perspective I traded in my 2000 3500 4x4 automatic with 56K miles, it had everything but leather. It also had $3000 in hail damage on the truck. I traded for a new 2002 3500 Regular cab 4x4 ETH/DEE that listed for $37,000. They gave me $23,000 for my trade and I paid $28,500 for the 02. That was in October of 2002. Hope that helps. Sounds like you have a lot nicer truck than I had. I would think you could get $25K to $26K for your truck from an individual. Good luck.

Greg,

Strip that truck back down to stock, or at least as close as you can get to stock if you are taking it to trade in. Even if you have to spend a little money to get there. Guages; 3 on the pod, Edge drag comp, DDII's, Afe Mega Cannon, PDR HX40, Pinnacle exhaust/ Jardine. These items alone you can sell privately with no problem. Your big money is tied up in your transmission.

I agree that your best bet is to sell it privately to someone who knows about the mods, and wants them. You will at least get some of the money back out of it.

I understand that the big $$$$$$$ are locked up in the transmission but that was the best $$$ I ever spent on the truck. As for stripping it down, I still have the stock parts and that is what they will get... ... ... . I am sure I could make a few dollars on the used turbo and comp. I would even sell the injectors if I had a stock replacement set. Thanks for your ideas.

Kev,

Is it o. k. if I buy a ticket???

I'd swap you injectors, but I don't know if my stock clutch would handle the upgrade. I don't have the money for a new clutch.

I suppose  , but then if you won, we'd think it was rigged:eek: ... .

I have the stock injectors that came out of my 2001- if you need them.

Kev

As been said... . sell all the goodies. Even the transmission. Just list the transmission on TDR as a swap + some dough. As eveyone has said... . the dealer will NOT pay more because of any of the mods.

used truck value

You can get the value of a stock truck at www.kbb.com . then you have to figure what you could get fro the enhancements and price it there. Or, you could remove the enhancements and sell them separately or put those which would fit on your new truck.

Do a little more research. Market Value is what you need to go by. I would check one or two local newspapers and look for vehicles that are as close a match as possible to yours and work your price around that. Bottom line is you will get more selling privately.

Greg, i dont think you should have any trouble getting what you want for it. I cant believe a TDR member hasnt scoffed it up already. Your truck is a bargain ,IMO. If you bought a stock 01. 5 it would cost you 23000-25000 here, then you have a stock truck, yuk. It may have been beat and neglected. I think Greg's truck has been run hard,BUT I have a feeling that he took good care of the mechanical end of things,as far as maintenance. If I were closer Greg,I know I could have a buyer here for your truck in a week. I know you towed heavy with it,but I still think its a deal. There is 7000+ in extra's that I consider to be "must haves" for every 24V. Good luck selling it Greg, I thought about the doing the same thing, I love the new crew cab,and need the room.

Thanks Snow Man,

I am also doing an update on the transmission with all kinds of Kewl stuff in it that wasn't available when I first upgraded. It is still for sale. Greg

Strip the hi-po stuff, save the transmission, injectors and turbo for the next one and sell the rest. Sell/trade the truck as stock. A runnable core transmission is only $600-1000 and a set of injectors will be $100, that will save the big $$$ items for the next one.

Don't ever trade a vehical in to the dealer, they are going to screw you anyway you wanna look at it they will try to sugar coat it and throw #'s around to confuse you it is sad that car buying has to be this way. You must consider they are gonna wanna make at least 2k profit on the truck, basically they are gonna offer you less than they could buy the truck for at wholesale auction. this situation is especially true with diesels, they hold value and the dealers know a quick sale is easy. I was only offered 3 k for my first gen in trade. I listed the truck had it sold in 3 days had 3 offers at the same time and sold for 6000 50 bucks less than my asking price. What i would recommed to you would be to list your truck privately, find a dealer that will show your truck as a trade in but really just transfer it to the buyer you already have when you have one ready to buy your truck. sales tax savings in the event you get 24000 for your truck will be over 1400$ this will off set some of the money you will not get back in mods. the only problem with this is you must have a truck picked out and ready the moment your truck sells which can be a problem, just did this on my wifes van and saved us alot in sales tax
