Jeff...

Yeah, getting Amalgamated out of the pail is a pain.

I transfer to a used 1/2 gal. Stanadyne jug by using a hand pump that sucks about 18 oz. each pull. The only chance for drips is when you pull the tube from the pail and put it into the other jug. I wear throw-away surgical gloves and have gotten the routine down pretty good... . just a couple of drips.

I found the hand pump at a farm implement dealer.

IMO, Amalgamated is much better than Stanadyne and all of the other brands I tried over the last 140K miles.

There is no Walmart or Napa anywhere near you??

I would like to add Howes or Power Service to my truck and my jetta but there is no where around to get it. This is what I get for moving from AZ to NJ. Anyone know where I might be able to internet order PS ?

I've found the best mileage with Lucas or FPPF... Howe's dropped my mileage over 2mpg. I haven't tried the MMO/DieselKleen recipe yet...

03 HO Police:

They have one called the TDR Blend. Cant rememeber the stock number off the top of my head but if you call or email Gary Pipenger there he will know exactly which one.

I use a cheaper plastic hand pump that I got at some auto parts store. Would love to find a pump that actually fits the opening and I have looked all over the place and cannot find one so the cheapo one and some disposable rubber gloves works for me. I went to an REI and picked up 6 liquid fuel bottles (they are aluminum with a rubber seal on the cap). Have not leaked yet and have been using the same ones for several years now. I just bought the ones for the size i need for my usual fill up and fill all six at once toss them int he truck toolbox and they are already portioned and ready to go when I fill up. As 24v mentioned sort of a pain but worth it to me and once you do it a couple times you get your system down and no mess at all.

B100 and no additive, none needed unless it gets cold which here in Texas is not often. Used to use Stanadyne when I ran #2.

actually I just pee in the tank every fill up... that is why I buy my fuel very late at night when it is not crowded

ROFL!! :-laf

Dont try that down here!! You will go to jail for indecent exposure, wind up listed as a sexual predator and be listed as a registered sex offender. They will also put you on the sex offender channel (on TV) and make you tell all your neighbors what you did.

Do you ever get the water in fuel light? I wonder if mine even works?

water in fuel light

Actually I did. Once in Portland OR. New to CTD then so I went to the Dodge dealer. They took me right in, got me out in two hours, reasonable price. The mechanic said the filter was full of gunk and water. I don't know where I got the bad load of fuel. Light has never come on again. The only trouble with going to that Dodge dealer was that while I was waiting in the customer lounge, I purchased a few hundred dollars of accessories!

Where do you buy the Amalgamated at? I am in Missouri, and have used the Marvel and Lucas, but I am willing to try something new... just haven't seen this one!

Don't waste time on their busy website. Just call them and ask for the TDR formula. Only available in 5 gal. pails. No credit cards, just send them a check... . they'll explain. I'm on my second pail, and got the product before they had cashed my check. Last time I did the math this is 1/2 the cost of Stanadyne, even with the high shipping cost. Best additive I've ever used, and I've tried a bunch.

A huge dose of FAME (fatty acid methyl esters) now. Works great! But I have to cut back on the dose in the winter. So I use Amalgamated's additive for B20 to lower the cloud point.

Before switching to FAME (bio-D), I used Amalgamated's TDR formula and a little Amzoil cetane booster. Love the stuff.

BTW: For you Stanadyne users, the word from Gary at Amalgamated was that they were contacted by Stanadyne to produce the additive for them some years ago. But Stanadyne didn't like the cost. Gary wouldn't compromise on the formula just to make it cheaper. So Stanadyne went elsewhere. It is fundamentally that original formula Gary sells as the TDR mix.
